Stacy Orrico is the most slept on White girl singer in history. If you can find it, consider her vocals on the single More to Life. She's as good as Jojo or better and Joss Stone is weak as a pitcher of sun tea with one bag in it.

Stacy's the bomb. I just wish she hadn't left CCM, but it worked for Amy Grant...

I was hoping and wihsing that after the football game thing she'd be gone forever. I was watching SNL and knew she was faking on the 1st number before she messed up later.

If there were any justice, Ashlee would BE BANNED FROM ALL FORMS OF public entertainment!!!!

That said, I dont' think it's a white/black thing. As said above, there are plenty talent-less no-singing "stars" of both races: (Ciara, Ashanti, Britney Spears, Brandy).

And personally, I AM SHOCKED that people thing Usher is talented. Yeah he can imitiate MJ's dance moves..... so what.... so did Corey Feldman!

Yeah, I think Brandy can sing. She ain't Chaka Khan in the Rufus days, but her albums have some decent cuts. Her brother Ray-J on the other hand...

whofarted Did the neuter the poor boy? I blame the Sinbad Show and Shaquille O'Neal for puttin him in the movie Steel. That kinda rhymes.

Well, I guess under the right circumstances, in the right studio, with the right song (i.e. one with a range of maybe 4 notes), Brandy can carry a tune.

But if you saw that Divas LIve thing she was on it was embarassing. The fact that they even consider her a "Diva" in the likes of a Whitney or Aretha is insanse.

god, i thought it was bad dealing with Donnie & Marie, then it was Debbie and Tiffany, now it's this shit...

I guess the reason she's getting so many second chances is because the team of people investing in her have deep pockets.

However, alot of the hype about Ashlee is fabricated. Right after her second appearance on SNL, there's articles popping up about her "comeback". When the hell did she leave? She's only on her second album, I mean come on. No respectable journalist in their right mind would write something like this.

I'm not sure why so many people are into lip-syncing, talentless bimbos, but I have a feeling that her current popularity may be due to the fact that some people are just plain sick and tired of rap/hip/hop and are looking for something with a more positive message. Ashlee doesn't sing about her bitches and hos, how many expensive cars she has or how much bling she owns. I believe that many people are sick of hearing about that shit and want something more positive.

Well over the last couple of years we have had some good neo-soul singers who could not get play on pop station must less RnB stations and none of them were singing about bitches and whores.

This is American and race plays a role. I wish Jill Scott first CD had sold 10 milion instead of a million copies but that will never happen.

I don't understand the controversy. Maybe I'm oversimplifying, but why not just support artists you like with your money rather than worrying about who sucks? So many entertainers, black and white, make my arse want to crochet barbed wire as well, so I just don't spend my dollar supporting them. Other than than, I don't lose sleep over the fact that I think they suck rocks. There's always going to be that "what are kids these days listening to??" generation gap.

Of course there are still major race issues in the US

But as stated above, there are plenty no-talent no-singing black "artists" who are topping the charts as well... so I dont' think that expalins this particular phenomenon

re: Jill Scott: I think the reason her albums didn't sell those kind of #s is cuz it's too "experimental" or "non-traiditonal" with all the spoken word stuff thrown in there. The average record buyer won't "get that"... kindof like why jazz never sells high #s.... it's above most people's head so to speak

eek Oh no, my days must be numbered then because everytime I'm around one of my teens, they're changing the channel to BET or MTV and changing the car radio to something run by Radio One and Clear Channel.

Please explain to me (in your own words) why in the hell THIS music industry continues to make up excuse for most of these talentless, lip-syncing bound, no singing ass white women of the past & present?

Granted, there are some well know black women that are/were limited in the singing & talent department too (Mary J. Blige used to be one of them). But too often, it's always the talentless white women that continues to get too many second chances (Read: Ashlee) in the spotlight.

And as a black male music fan, I'm so sick of it!!!

Please talk to me people.

So bitter people like you can bitch about them and little white (and black and Asian!) girls can buy their records without a care in the world. The more bitter you are, the more they'll sell! Ashlee Simpson released two albums and you're just bitter becuase hers sold well. Calm down! Ignore it and it will end...

Sorry Vinny, but I'll take The Pussycat Dolls instead. At least Nicole CAN sing! wink

but seriously, horsefeathers' got a point: theres always gonna be shitty artists or artists YOU consider shitty - complaining and whining about how much they suck accomplishes nothing - it doesnt get them off the hair and it doesnt make the label drop them, it might (like in the case of eminem) boost them up higher. in the end all u can really do is support who u like
