Anxy's Wrecka Stow Finds Du Jour: 2005 MPLS ORG INVASION EDITION! One of the big fun events of the MPLS Org Invasion is, of course, the wrecka stow run in which we invade a few of the city's finest music retailers and scour the racks until we drop. This year, we went to Cheapo's Records and the fantabulous Electric Fetus. Here's what I got:
Donna Summer, "Bad Girls" (Deluxe Edition): Oh man. I found this used for seven measly bucks at Cheapo's and nearly popped a blood vessel. Two discs, one of which is chock full of 12" disco remixes and the MacArthur Park Suite. Seu Jorge, "Cru": Of course, I got turned on to this guy via his performances of David Bowie songs in "The Life Aquatic", but I've heard great things about his work outside of the Bowie stuff, and I'm excited to give this a listen. The guy's got a great voice, I'm sure I'll go nuts for it. Neneh Cherry, "Homebrew": I love this album. I've owned this for ages on cassette, and it's one that I've kept intending to buy on CD but was always too burned out on it to justify spending $$$ on. Until this weekend, when I found a copy used for five bucks. Vincent Gallo, "Music for Films...": I've seen this at wrecka stows in Chicago for ridiculous prices, and even though I loved his "When" album (believe it or not, it's very pretty) I couldn't justify spending import prices after I'd already sat through The Brown Bunny. I can only give so much. But I found a used copy at the Fetus for nine bucks so I finally have it. David Bowie, "Club Bowie": Never really wanted this because it was a DJ remix ep of Bowie songs and it was another one that was always way overpriced. I'm not spending eighteen bucks on house versions of "China Girl", sorry. Welp, found it at Cheapo's for six bucks. Et voila: one less gap in my Bowie collection. I never made it down to the vinyl section at Cheapo's. Looking at the other MPLS Org Invasion thread, I'm kinda relieved that I didn't...

It made me realize that I still am a fam. Dropping hard earned beer money on a tape with songs I already had, just cos I "had" to own it. for those who don't visit the Prince forum (where I just made a thread about this) here's the tape I got for 3.99
