Roy Hargrove's album, "RH Factor- Hardgroove", an all-star Jazz, Funk and Hip- Hop throwdown, featuring guests like D'Angelo, Q-tip, Erykah Badu, Bernard Wright, Common, Meshell Ndegeocello, Anthony Hamilton, Pino Palladino, Cornell Dupree, etc.... ...oops, I'm late! sorry! ... Can this be compared to D'Angelo's Voodoo? Sound-wise? Real drums?

I'm seeing so much praise for this cd here I thought I'd visit Amazon.com & listen to clips of these songs & see what I think. The clip for Poetry is only Q-Tip so I have no idea what the Badu portion is like. The clip for the D'Angelo song is all instrumental. As clips to promote the cd they suck. I still have no idea if I would like this cd.

Roy Hargrove is the horn section's conductor for both of D'Angelo's Voodoo and Erykah Badu's Momma's Gun

I feel that Hargrove is pulling a Santana on this one. There are so many guestspots that it ruins the flow
of the CD. The D track is lackluster. Common's freestyle is cute - I gotta support my daughter y'all - but not a real song. Yes, it is a real band, but it is not a real album. It needs more quality in songcraft. I appreciate a lot of Roy's work, especially the tasty licks for D and the likes. Need to listen the EP. [Edited 10/27/05 10:49am]

Yeah, I heard a clip of "Some Fun" and thought that's the same music to the "Common Freestyle" with just Roy singing. Nevertheless, it still sounds pretty funky!
