Madonna's "Music" went to #1 after Santana's "Maria Maria" in 2000. I don't know if anyone over 40 had a #1 U.S. single after that.

Cher was in her mid-50s when "Believe" went to #1 in the states in 1999. But Madonna was 42 when "Music" went to #1 a year and a half later.

In a couple of weeks, Barbra Streisand should top the Dance Music Club chart with Night of My Life - it jumped from 15 to 9 this week.

Yes, Cher was 53 when she hit #1 with "Believe". She is the oldest woman to ever hit #1 on Billboard's Hot 100.

The oldest man was Louis Armstrong who was 63 when he hit #1 with "Hello Dolly".

Yes, I know, I'm Casey Kasem.

I don't think this is true. Dionne Warwick hit #1 with "That's What Friends Are For". She was 45 at the time

It's listed with her name on the charts and was on her album. The others are listed as guests.

Invincible (the album) went to #1. I know you're not talking about album charts, but I felt this thread wouldn't be complete without at least one MJ-reference in it.

dunce
