Bass Player: Legends Of Funk and R&B ...
I'm probably late on this, and sorry if this has already been mentioned, but there's currently a Bass Player magazine Special called "Legends of Funk and R&B" on the newsstands: It's basically a compilation of Funk/R&B interviews they've done over the past 10 years in the magazine. It includes the recent P-Funk bassists article from a few months back , as well as articles on the ususal suspects: Larry Graham Verdine White Bootsy Collins James Jamerson Marcus Miller Prince Louis Johnson Mark Adams (Slave) Meshell Ndegeocello Flea Chuck Rainey Anthony Jackson Jerry Jemmott Mark King(Level 42) Paul Jackson Francis "Rocco" Prestia Will Lee George Porter, Jr. David Hood Marshall Jones (Ohio Players) and others..... ... Thanks for the heads up! And fuck the "Larry Haters"..Most of them were probably born after 1985 so what do they know? They weren't around when Larry and GCS were holding it down on FM radio in the 70's.

That sounds like a familiar lineup. Is that edition a rehash of old interviews and profiles, repackaged for 2005?

Did Freddie 'Ready' Washingto make it to the issue? Just wondering,,,

More or Less.... I was saying in the original post, it's basically a compilaton of articles and interviews, done over the past 10 years or so, but including recent features like the one they did on the P-Funk bassists a few months back(the one that had Bootsy on the cover)... ... TALK!!! Larry Graham did more on the song Today than most bass players could hope for in their entire career. Anyone that hates on Larry Graham is just ignorant.

Is Victor Wooten featured? An extremely under-rated bass player, IMHO!
Otherwise, great list! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I'm not trying to bust your balls Jedi, but isn't Wooten considered jazz or jazz-fusion?
I havent read the issue yet but with a music dignitary such as Wooten not being mentioned on the cover, you'd have to think that that was the reason why the editors omitted him from the issue.
