madonna - on who's going to hell...

in the new documentary, "i'm going to tell you a secret," madonna tells us people "are going to Hell if they don't turn from their wicked behaviour." she goes on to inform us she has turned from "the material world. the physical world. the world of illusion, that we think is real. we live for it, we're enslaved by it and it ultimately will be our undoing."

with comments like this, madonna is not only living in her own world but she is also going to be responsible for her own commercial undoing. shrug

(though, honestly, i agree with all of the comments she's made)

What is she talking about?

Funny how she relies on such a "wicked thing" like the media to survive?

when madonna starts influencing her fans to practice a humble, non-material lifestyle, i may actually take her ranting seriously.

this quote is taken out of context. she was talking about how she likes the postion of telling people how to go they were going to hell in the book of Revelations.

She has been using the particular verse for years now.

anyone who doesn't buy the download, the maxi, and the import of Hung Up plus the album and the limited edition and the download version of Confessions and doesn't call their local radio station to request Madonna 10 times a day is going to hell!!!

This would all be good if she weren't so not humble or non-materialistic herself. She didn't want to meet Mariah Carey at Live8 because of some fued SHE has with Mariah over #1 singles!!! And don't even get me started on her lifestyle. She only lives on what a scant gazillion acres of land in England? That was before that humongous house she sold in LA. I ain't mad at her but it's incredibly hard to take her seriously most times. I guess it's easy to extol the virtues of simple living when Donatella Versace is paying you 10 million dollars for fashion spreads. *eyeroll*

Explain more cuz I don't get what you're saying here. I so don't want to believe that Madonna is deciding who is and isn't going to hell.

I've been looking around and I can't seem to find any ironic kind of context to the comment. Sounds like she meant it straight up. Pretty sad, and killing my buzz from "Hung Up," which seemed to indiciate a turn away from that kind of dime-store moralizing. confused

Well I never liked her anyway.

Seriously.

When people do ridiculous things like this, I wonder how they think they can stand up and face the world! Ah the negative effect of "yes-men"

hmmmmm.....having wealth doesn't make you materialistic.

I could be poor and be materialistic.

Materialism is when you place a high value on things and wealth. Just because I may have wealth doesn't mean that I place a high value on it.

So come on ya'll, if I'm a multi-millionaire, I'm suppose to live in the projects?

is not having money that's sinful...its the LOVE of it.

So I don't see the hypocrisy. I've really never thought of madonna as "materialistic" per se. shrug but I also don't follow her life.

if you can go out and find the Virgin Tour on VHS anywhere. watch the ending performance of Material Girl. She throws all of her jewels off and screams take it i don't want it. Money is the root of all evil

Oh, PLEASE! What a pretentious hypocrite! And what's this bull about not letting her kids read magazines and watch TV? Her whole life has been centered on getting as much media attention as possible.

Exactly!! To be honest, I don't know how people stand listening to anything she has to say about anything. It's one thing to enjoy her music, but listening to all her bullshit is impossible for me to do. She's such a fake.

On this I find it hard to find fault with Madonna. I've spent enough of my life on both to know that they're a time-waster at best, a bastion of mediocrity at worst. One day I'll learn. (LOL)

the funny thing about not letting her children watch tv or read magazines is the fact that lourdes has her own credit card (in her and madonna's name, of course).

well hey...at least she's teaching her kids to not be materialistic. lol

i know i sound like an obessed fan... but in an interview Madonna gave it to her to teach her about money. i guess it's her allowance for the month. once's it's maxed out she's done for the month.

on and don't forget Madonna herself was not allowed to watch tv growing up.

i completely agree with the no tv thing. any children that may be in my future will not be watching tv. they'll read. a lot. with any luck they'll be onto marx and mill way before they ever know what "the apprentice" (or its future equivelant) is.

the credit card thing is not too cool with me, though. whatever the reason is, a kid has no business with a credit card. she's still so young that madonna should be shopping for her anyway. kids don't need to feel like little adults; they need to feel like kids.
