Slum Village is back! Slum Village, the mercurial Motor City rap crew, will be releasing their latest layer cake of funky hip-hop this October 25 on Barak Records. The self-titled album will be their first record since separating from Capitol Records and returning to their independent Detroit roots. The record will come packaged with a DVD detailing the convoluted history of the group, which at one time included four members (T-3, Baatin, Jay Dee and Elzhi) and is now down to the duo of T-3 and Elzhi. Though the group will no longer have the major label machine to help promote their newest venture, the Detroit crew have just closed a deal to feature their first single, "Ez Up," on the new ad campaign for the Chevrolet 2006 Impala and HHR line. Looks like Motown is still pushing whips, using songs instead of steel. Here is a track list from the new cd: 01. Giant 02. Set It 03. Can I Be Me 04. Call Me feat. Dwele 05. 05 06. 1, 2 07. Multiply feat. Melanie Rutherford 08. 1-800-S-L-U-M 09. Hear This feat. Black Milk & Que D. 10. Def Do Us 11. Hell Naw 12. Ez Up feat. J. Isaac 13.
