Jamie Lidell!

I'm so excited! I've got tix to see Jamie Lidell at Plug, Sheffield in November and I can't wait. I saw him in Barcelona at the Sonar Festival in 2003 and he was awesome. He looked all quirky with this big, woolly orange jumper with shoulder pads underneath. The music was amazing-layered beats and breaks with Lidell's gravely, soulful voice on top. It was made extra special with a funky take on Prince's Forever In My Life. For those who dont know, try out his newish album Multiply.

Any other Lidell heads out there?

thumbs up!

I went to see him in Leeds back in June and he put on a great show then. I was so impressed that I subsequently bought the Multiply CD and I wasn't disappointed. At times his vocals really do remind you of the likes of Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding and Prince.

Never heard of him. Has he always been a solo act?

No, he's one half of Super_Collider with Cristian Vogel. Check out there stuff too! Thanks md7 for the multiple posts. Oh the irony!

He performed in Belgium last July, I missed it sad
A bit too expensive and too far away from where I live. It was a Dj-set by the way (10 days off), but anyway. A friend of mine worked there and met him!
I hope he'll come back soon.
Multiply is such a great album.

I've been sleeping on this cat all this time. I finally heard the "Multiply" album today and it brought me to this conclusion: This is the best soul music out there. But why did it take a white guy to make this? He's beating us at our own game. lol I don't even hear any Neo-Soul brothers making funky tracks like these. What's up with that?

You know I still haven't checked him properly but I have the Warp DVD which has 2 Jamie tracks: "Daddy's Car" which is mindblowing and "The City" which isn't as good but pretty damn cool.
