Stevie On Howard Stern Show tomorrow 10/20 Hey Everybody!
Even if you hate Stern, THIS should be an interesting appearance! Stevie WOnder will be on the show tomorrow (not sure of time but most likely around 7:30 am since this the prime time in morning drive). Today, Howard and Gary (BabaBooey) were discussing Stevie coming in. Courtesy of MarksFriggin.com: Gary told Howard that he has to take a break before getting to the next segment because they only took two breaks this morning. Howard said that he's capable of going commercial free for four hours and he could do that at SIRIUS if he wanted to. They mentioned that Stevie Wonder was coming in tomorrow so Howard wanted to pick out a song for him to perform. Gary said they're not even sure Stevie will play for them though. Howard thinks that he'll be able to convince Stevie to perform though so he went through a list of songs that they could have him play. He found a few songs that he'd like to hear. He said he'd like to hear the following songs... Higher Ground Livin for the City Pastime Paradise ... and then told Gary that he should tell Stevie to be ready to perform all of his songs after that because he's going to rattle off songs and have him play them. Gary said that Stevie is going to quiz Howard on some of his material, so eh has to do some homework. Howard was also saying that they should have him write a song for them while he's there, go back to the studio and perform it, and then help them pack for their upcoming move. Howard thought that they were working on giving Stevie some kind of implants in his eyes so he could see. Gary said he was on Oprah talking about that the other day and he's still waiting for that to happen. The guys have a lot of things they want to talk to Stevie about so Howard told Gary to get down all of that stuff so he'd remember to do it tomorrow. Be sure to check it out!! Robin took issue with that and as proof, Howard talked about the Talking Book album and how that was one of his all time favorite albums and the one that got him through the college years. That said, you never know where Howard's gonna go on his interviews..but something tells me this one's gonna be good. Stevie, for all love, peace and occasional corniness, has a pretty raucous sense of humor...he may get a good rapport going if Howard starts in on the "groupies, sex stories" vein..at the very least, it will be unlike any Stevie appearance that's ever been heard! And to reiterate another poster, can anyone record this? Not sure I'm even gonna get to hear it!  I may be able to set up something here at work.
 The only available cassette I found has a recording of an Art Bell interview with "Dr. Doom" (Major Ed Dames) that I will not record over.

Another alternative in terms of recording this broadcast.
Howard's New York affiliate, K-ROCK 92.3, streams their broadcast via the internet: http://www.krock2.com/ If anyone knows how to record that stream, that would probably be the best way. The problem is within his 4 hour broadcast (6-10am ET), you've got no idea when Stevie will be on. The West Coast has the best shot at a non-streamed recording from the L.A. affiliate. KLSX 97.1 broadcasts the show live (3-7am PT) and then repeats it directly afterwards (7-11am PT) Something to think about for those really wanting to invest the energy in recording this. tA Tribal Disorder

Got to hear bits and pieces. Off the top of my head: -Stevie came in at 7:05AM...literally! Howard and the crew were going to go to break and Stevie just appeared. They gave him a standing ovation. -Topics included Stevie being discovered by Ronnie from the Miracles and being brought to Berry Gordy, Stevie's luck with the ladies early in his life, his many marriages: Stevie: "Howard, you gonna get married again? Howard: "No, I realized I'm bad at it" -Whenever Howard's questions got off-color ("When's the first time you got any?" "How do you pick up women?") Stevie's stock answer was "You gonna ask a grown ass man...?" Hilarious! -Stevie took requests from the gang and callers: "Living For The City", "Superwoman" (changing the lyrics to "Robin" wants to be a Superwoman), "As", "Pasttime Paradise" (forgot the lyrics) and the new song "Shelter From The Storm"...I think he did "My CHerie Amour" with a caller also but didn't really hear that part -Howard: "Would you let your kids sleep at Michael Jackson"s house?" Stevie: "Michael's my friend.. Howard's always been a great celebrity interviewer and it showed here...I think Stevie had a great time and it was a blast to hear. Got to hear bits and pieces. Off the top of my head: -Stevie came in at 7:05AM...literally! Howard and the crew were going to go to break and Stevie just appeared. They gave him a standing ovation. -Topics included Stevie being discovered by Ronnie from the Miracles and being brought to Berry Gordy, Stevie's luck with the ladies early in his life, his many marriages: Stevie: "Howard, you gonna get married again? Howard: "No, I realized I'm bad at it" -Whenever Howard's questions got off-color ("When's the first time you got any?" "How do you pick up women?") Stevie's stock answer was "You gonna ask a grown ass man...?" Hilarious! -Stevie took requests from the gang and callers: "Living For The City", "Superwoman" (changing the lyrics to "Robin" wants to be a Superwoman), "As", "Pasttime Paradise" (forgot the lyrics) and the new song "Shelter From The Storm"...I think he did "My CHerie Amour" with a caller also but didn't really hear that part -Howard: "Would you let your kids sleep at Michael Jackson"s house?" Stevie: "Michael's my friend.. (this exchange was repeated 4 times until they both started laughing) -Howard asked if Stevie was still friends with "that pain in the ass" Bill Cosby and Stevie gave kind of a, shall we say, diplomatic answer...what's up there? -Our boy got a mention! Stevie mentioned Prince playing on "So What THe Fuss" and Howard immediately chimed in with how Prince is underrated. Robin disagreed stating that everyone knows Prince is very talented and then Artie (I think jokingly) stated "I think he's overrated" to which Stevie said "Watch yo' mouth, that's my friend you're talking about there" Go STEVIE! This was an excellent interview..wish I could have heard it all. What made it nice was that Howard really does respect Stevie and so it wasn't a "Lazy" Stern interview, lazy meaning the boring strippers and freaks he has on daily. Howard's always been a great celebrity interviewer and it showed here...I think Stevie had a great time and it was a blast to hear. Man, I wish Stevie would tour with just his keyboards and pianos...GOOSEBUMPS whenever he sand today. Hope everyone gets to hear this (and hopefully records it!!!) Matt I left my apartment a bit late this morning so I could hear this - it was vintage Stern. I've been a Stern fan since '85, and he's always respected cats like Stevie, Prince & James Brown. He doesn't get today's R&B(I don't either). Yep, me neither! And the great thing was though Howard was reverential, it was still irreverent and funny as hell...I think Stevie had a great time! They took Howard off the air in Columbus. I haven't heard the show in about 3 months  . This thread is a great reminder of why I enjoyed the show so much. I'm gonna have to get Sirius next year . | |
