i'm not big on his "disney sound" these days but every musician has to evolve and grow with the time if they wanna stay workin. but no matter what some of these musical snobs on the org will tell you, the man can still play the hell outta some skins and keyboards too.

easy lover
inside out
in the air tonight
take me home
i wish it would rain down
two hearts
another day in pardise
long long way to go
in too deep
no son of mine

Nahh man. His vocals are so cheesy to me. I used to say the exception was "Mama" by Genesis, because it's got a Linn Drum and synth, but honestly his vocals fuck it up for me.

The singles from No Jacket Required were pretty good, and I like the singles Easy Lover and In the Air Tonight. Outside of that, I don't really follow his music. I guess I'd consider a greatest hits set at some point in time. But that awful Tarzan song that won the Oscar?

I loved his Genesis stuff, up to about '85, and I love his first solo album, Face Value...but I gotta jump off after that.....he went Way too mainstream...

Man, I just looooove Phil Collins. He's like my favourite artist ever second to Prince and Merzbow.

Why I'd love to. nod

Let me take you back to over 7 years ago. I had pretty much forgotten that Phil even existed, but after moving here, I began to realize that Phil Collins is still a HUGE star here. lol Well, at least you'd think so with his face and/or name plastered all over radio station ads at bus stops, and hearing him on the radio almost daily. shake I swear, at any given moment, there is a Phil Collins song playing here, whether it's in a bar, shops, on the radio, tv, etc.

I almost didn't really realize how much so, until people started visiting me here from the States, and they ALL would say, "What's up with Phil Collins here?" confuse "He's everywhere." lol

It's become a running joke with my husband and I now, and we try to see who can announce and identify the Phil Collins song first wherever we hear it. biggrin

I pretend that Phil Collins is dead. He died shortly before "Groovy Kind of Love". As far as I'm concerned, that was when he jumped the shark. I can really enjoy his earlier stuff, but I DETEST his later crap. So, everything from GKoL on is just some hack who is using the Phil Collins name.
