BTW, Davideye, an Earth Wind and Fire connection: their third album, "Standing In The Light" was produced by Verdine White and Larry Dunn... " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

Wow..how does that album sound?

it still sounds like Level 42 (I mean, there aren't any phoenix horns, or anything like that), a funky, jazzy sound with a liitle pop sheen in the production ...it does sound kind of like "Raise"-era Earth Wind and Fire...Larry and Verdine had heard a tape of the band while they were touring england, dug their sound and thought it would be cool to produce them , give more of a professional polish to their sound. In a 1983 interview with Rock N Soulmagazine, Maurice White said, "There's a group out called Level 42 that is BAD!! You should check out their bass player. He''s a monster!"

You probably know Lessons in Love as well. It was a big hit for them. Similar sound to Something About You. Check out a sound sample of it from their greatest hits. You'll know it. They started out as a fusion group, so you might wanna explore at least their greatest hits. Might be to your liking.

This song was a favorite of mine as a kid. I only recently figured out that Level 42 had some good jazzy tunes when they first debuted.

actually, Mark is still touring with a new version of the group, and they're currently recording a new album, with input from the original line up...they were open to doing a US tour, but it's hard to get venues here in the US to agree to any dates....

Jeez, that had to one of my all time favorite songs at the time. And still is. I'm sure there were several remixes, but one in particular was played non-stop in my CD player.

I remember I've bought the World Machine LP in 1986 :nostalgia: I think that the band's creativity declined after the 2 brothers left the band
