Duran Duran are very underrated, I heard someone compare NSYNC to Duran Duran, WTF!! NSYNC or any of these other bands struggled, or played clubs and pubs, groups like NSYNC or Backstreet or any of the other Teen POP/RB world were all handed their music, production, wardrobe and careers, None of them struggled, None of them worked for what they got. Duran will be on the Hall of Fame Ballot in 2006, obviously they wont get in, John Mellencamp was push aside so geniuses like ZZtop could get in.
In Terms of MOST Overrated Band, well I would have to go with A-HA, easily. They are responsible for Bands like ColdPlay,Keane, and early RadioHead, their influence was acknowledged by all of them. Old Duran Duran, yes. New stuff (Astronaut included), definitely not. I couldn't believe how spotty that CD was when I bought it. From all of the reviews I'd read, I thought it was going to be a Rio-esque masterpiece, but alas... I'm the first mammal to wear pants. | |

Yes, agreed. Duran gets its props sometimes. Great band, one of my all time favorite. But I have to say, Medazzaland gets no recognition, and it's a shoulda been classic, head and shoulders above the U2 and Oasis albums that were all the rage in the mid-90s. They are under-rated artistically, as many think of them as a "boy band". They certainly deserve more recognition for their work.

Japan was okay, but they pale in comparison to DD.
