Judith Miller "can't recall"

So, in todays NT Times, Judith Miller writes that she testified to the grand jury that she "can't recall" who told her the name of CIA agent Valerie Plame.

She can't recall who gave her the biggest tip of her career? She can't recall who told her the name when her notes from her interviews with Lewis Libby include the name "Valerie Flame"?

She forgot?

ThreadBare

The Times has received an almost-daily drubbing from fellow journalists condemning the paper for failing to report on itself, as well as its role within the scandal.

Miller is an interesting figure, having acted fairly closely to an administration pawn in the lead-up to the war. Her conduct is really interesting, as there is some confusion as to whether she even needed to go to jail, given the waiver Scooter Libby had supplied her more than 6 months ago.

Now, she can't recall. It's all very weird.

I think her book will find her being a lot more forthcoming. She'd better make sure it's written by Christmas. The general public's notorious for having a short attention span...

Frankly, when I saw her on the news being interviewed last week, I said to myself "Oh her... she's out? Hmm. Iteresting." And then I changed the channel.

Yeah, she's a really great red herring. The real key is the motivation for leaking Plame's name in the first place. But, while everyone's focused on her, Novak eludes any real scrutiny. I wonder about Rove and charges.

But the war we started on trumped-up info, the thousands who have died and the instability we've placed in Iraq in the name and guise of democracy -- those are the really wicked things. Who cares about Miller, why should the public? (Outside, of course, of the news organizations...)
