The funkiest songs by your favorite artists!

You can pick any artist you like (even the obviously unfunkiest ones), and I'm pretty sure there's a song they've done where they decided to get on the good foot. Perhaps they were joking, perhaps they were dead serious, but nonetheless, they at least made a groove that made you move. Now of course it's a give that artists like Prince, JB, P-funk, Stevie, Sly, yada and yada are all about the funk, so just pick a song you like from their catalog. Or rather, pick the track in which you think displays them at their absolute funkiest.

Prince - Housequake
Talking Heads - Pull Up The Roots
The Clash - This Is Radio Clash
The Smiths - Barbarianism Begins At Home
The Specials - Sock It To Em, JB!
The Beatles - It's All Too Much
ABC - Valentine's Day
Gang of Four - If I Could Keep It For Myself
The B-52's - Housework
Duran Duran - Notorious
The Jam - Precious
Red Hot Chili Peppers - If You Have To Ask
Bow Wow Wow - W.O.R.K.
Pylon - Sugarpop
David Bowie - The Secret Life Of Arabia
Led Zeppelin - The Crunge
James Brown - Super Bad
Bob Marley - Could You Be Loved
Parliament - Flash Light
Funkadelic - One Nation Under A Groove
The Cure - Hot Hot Hot
Split Enz - Hermit McDermitt
Elvis Costello - Moods For Moderns
Sly & The Family Stone - Luv & Haight
Rick James - Come Into My Life
INXS - Original Sin
The Time - 777-9311
The Pretenders - How Much Did You Get For Your Soul?
Adam Ant - Don't Be Square (Be There)
English Beat - Too Nice To Talk To
NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

For sure, very underrated funk-track from Stevie.
I say Superstition is his funkiest.

A repost of a few old school classics...

Dyke and the Blazers (the original Funky Broadway)

Fatback Band (King Tim III)

The Mighty Imperials (Soul Buster)

Lyn Collins (Think - produced by JB, nuff said)

Buddy Miles Express (some of Buddy's best funk/R&B drumming)

Rufus Thomas (Breakdown, Do The Funky Chicken, Walking The Dog, etc. )

Fela (My Lady Frustration, Zombie)

Oneness Of Juju (Space Jungle Funk)

Osibisa (Music for Gong Gong, Akwaaba)

Eddie Harris (I Need Some Money, Get On Down)

Lonnie Liston Smith (Expansions)

Ronnie Laws (Always There, Nothing To Lose)

Roy Ayers (Runnin' Away - 12", Freaky Deaky, Searching, Vibrations, Everybody Loves The Sunshine, etc.)

Chuck Brown (Bustin' Loose, We Need Some Money)

The Bar-Kays (Holy Ghost)

Booker T. & The MG's (damn near everything)

Jr. Walker & the All Stars (Shotgun, Road Runner, Shake and Fingerpop)

And last but certainly not least, going straight to the heart of the matter.
These 2 always stay within arms reach. The foundation and the exploration.

James Brown - On this record you get the pre-mutiny, fine-tuned, clock-work like '60s band featuring Maceo, Wesley, St.Clair Pinkney, Nolan and Sherrell (Mother Popcorn) as well as the post-mutiny, raw, new breed '70s band featuring young upstarts Bootsy and Catfish Collins (Give It Up or Turn It Loose). Priceless.

Herbie Hancock (Spank-A-Lee, Butterfly, Actual Proof and Palm Grease)
Funk unleashed by master composer on stellar improvisers, pure and simple.
