Rock and Roll Monsters! First up, we have the king of shock rock, Alice Cooper! An incredibly inventive artist who brought a new level of theatricality to his music and stage show.
Essential Halloween tracks: "Welcome to my Nightmare", "Feed My Frankenstein" Next, it's the increbile Danny Elfman led Oingo Boingo. No Halloween party is complete without "Dead Man's Party" being played!
Essential Halloween tracks: "Dead Man's Party", "No One Lives Forever" In the modern rock scene, there are too few real rock monsters. Thankfully, we have Rob Zombie keeping the flame alive, with songs about living dead girls, superbeasts and the hot rod built by Grandpa Munster! Essential Halloween tracks: "Living Dead Girl", "Dragula", "Super-Charger Heaven", "House of 1000 Corpses" Of course, I would be remiss if I didn't mention rock's FIRST monster act, the original Black Sabbath! Guitarist Tony Iommi, singer Ozzy Osbourne, drummer Bill Ward and bassist Terry "Geezer" Butler came together to create tunes that were rockin', yet also were creepy as hell!
Essential Halloween tracks: "N.I.B", "Children of the Grave", "Black Sabbath" ----- [Edited 10/10/05 14:10pm] Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

But tell us WHY they should be included folks! I totally agree with Kiss and MM, by the way!
Here's another selection for ya! Surf band, The Ghastly Ones. These guys have had a whole "haunted" bit to their act since the beginning,
Plus, they have hot "Go-Go Ghoul" Necrobella as part of their shows!
Essential Halloween tracks: "Halloween (She's So Mean)"[featuring Rob Zombie], "The Ghastly Stomp" [Edited 10/10/05 14:09pm] Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I know I already included him with Sabbath, but his solo output should get a nod. Back in the days before he became a reality TV punch line, Ozzy Osbourne was the scourge of Fundamentalists everywhere. Many parents truly believed him to be the Prince of F%@*ing Darkness!
Essential Halloween tracks: "Bark at the Moon", "Mr. Crowley" ---- [Edited 10/10/05 14:10pm] Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Thanx. I wuz tempted but I didn't want to have to post a pic. Also, I would've been inclined to drive to my local comic-book store, pick up a back issue of a 70's comic called "Morbius the Living Vampire" to post along with the pic to keep in with the theme. And all that would've meant that I would have to get up.

Alice keeps me entertained for days at a time this time of year, and I love Rob Zombie/White Zombie - Dragula is my fave tune of theirs. I've already mentioned them in another thread, but I must listen to lots and lots of Misfits this time of year. Theirs is the ideal rock soundtrack for Halloween!

Though they're not my cup of tea, I don't think you can have a thread like this without mention of Gwar.

I have a mix cd with all horror themes on it I burned a while back. The Friday the 13th pt.3 theme is on my iPod right now. 'Everybody wants to know how I came up with [ki, ki, ki... ma, ma, ma],' Manfredini gleefully grins. 'It's gotta be question number one. Sean Cunningham said, 'Can you use a chorus or something in this picture?' I said, 'Sean, we don't even have enough money for players, much less a chorus, but it would be a great idea,' and that sort of stuck with me. . . Then it came to me: Mrs. Voorhees was a person who heard voices. There was one scene where there was a close-up of just her mouth going, 'Kill her mommy,' and then all at once it switched to little Jason's voice saying, 'Kill her, mommy.' That's the thing that gave me the idea. Most people think I'm going, 'Chh, chh, chh,' but I'm saying the letter k and the letter m - 'ki' for 'kill' and 'ma' for 'mommy,' see? Then I used some various voice processing. That's actually me making that sound into a microphone.' http://www.fridaythe13thf...edini.html looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

I've been listening to him a lot lately. "Juxtapose" is SO underrated. I've been meaning to start a Tricky thread with my custom discs. Maybe I will soon.
