Ron Isley Faces Up To 26 Years In Prison If Convicted

RON ISLEY FACES JUDGE OVER TAX
EVASION: Isley Brother is accused of shady
reporting and cashing checks meant for
entire group.

*Ronald Isley’s trial for tax evasion began
Wednesday in Los Angeles. The Isley
Brothers front man faces up to 26 years in
prison if convicted on five counts of tax
evasion, including charges that he demanded
fees in cash for his tour dates in order to
blur the amount used for expenses vs. profit;
and used for his own benefit royalty checks
issued to other Isley Brothers-related
enterprises – including his brother O'Kelly,
who died in 1986. He is also charged with
one count of failing to file a tax return.
Prosecutors say the 64-year-old singer,
whose voice powered such Isley Bros.
classics as "Who's That Lady" and “Between
the Sheets,” used the pilfered funds to buy
a yacht and two mansions in Missouri.
The main prosecution witness is Isley's
former tour manager, Ruby Martin, an eight-
year employee of the singer who is testifying
under immunity from charges that she did
not file her own income taxes on time for
four years.
Isley, who emerged from bankruptcy in
the early 1990s, has pleaded not guilty to
all charges.

It's a damn shame if this is true, that would really demystify him as a good person. I'm going to assume that the songs he did with R.Kelly didn't net him much money if he has this trial going on, it makes you wonder was it worth it all ?

The Isleys are an amazing, influential group, but I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be true. It seems those who have the most money want to part with it the least. Ronnie, Ronnie...I hope things turn out for the best.

He should serve time for lowering himself to working with the likes of R. Kelly. Now that was a crime.

Yeah, he married the chick from the group JS.

He oughta be locked up for giving up on Angela Winbush for a much younger girl that could pass for his granddaughter.
