I would go with Double Platinum (1978), altough you will miss all of the later hits (which are not that important to me). If you want an overview of the entire career, I would go with The Very Best of Kiss (2002) or, if you want to spend a bit more, the box set. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

Alive would be a good choice too. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

Depends on how comprehensive you want to be. If you want a total career overview try the two millenium collection discs. One covers the '70s, the other the '80s.(12 tracks each) They are a little on the short side, but they are also pretty cheap (under $10.00). If you want a more thorough look at the makeup years try the two disc Gold. (40 tracks)
If you have the cash I would recommend Gold and Vol. 2 of the millenium collection. If you are on a bit of a budget the two millenium collection discs should fit the bill.

I am not a Big Kiss Collector but I do like ALIVE, and DYNASTY and ROCK N ROLL OVER. Kiss is some Group. I met Paul Stanley. He isn't tall either. Ace is Tall I met him also.Paul was/ is Gorgeous. Sorry,if I'm a Groupie .LOL. I met Johnny Depp also amongst other Celebs . They are Gorgeous and all flirted big time with me. I guess I am Lucky. Only in NYC.

The 5 disc box set has alot of outtakes and demos. I wouldn't get it unless you have the studio versions first. It's more for diehard fans, not really a good survey of their music.
Like Stax said, Double Platinum is a great place to start. Oh and check out Gene Simmons solo album thats some great stuff.
