I want to discover Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds..Where do I start? So I've been listening to the song "Red Right Hand" by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds.
Second of all, I heard he was friends with Michael Hutchence (Inxs) and I dig Michael Hutchence as a singer and writer. So I'm totally looking into getting into Nick Cave & The Bad Seed's music. I was thinking of starting with the two following discs as an introduction into their music: 1)Greatest Hits Album 2)B-Sides Box Set CD Do any of their fans by chance have any thoughts on those two? Would those be good choices? Does the hits CD capture some great stuff? Is there anything I might want to pick up instead? Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I've only got their greatest hits, and I like it a lot. Lots of great tunes especially for this time of year!

I suggest getting The Birthday Party - Prayers on Fire
and then Cave's From Her to Eternity and Tender Prey [Edited 10/15/05 17:46pm]

Hi I suggest by either one of these: Let love in
or Murder Ballads
Why? Let love in is an intense album with very great tunes and very driven Murder Ballads is a calmer album (except for some songs) but with a concept. And if you really want some experimental stuff try My Funeral your trial "Time is a train, makes the future the past"

The truth is Nick Cave and Michael Hutchence were good friends. He was even named the God Father to Michael's daughter, Tiger Lilly. And if you listen to Michael Hutchence's solo album it is very dark and has lots of edge. It was almost like his cry for help. It is a shame nobody heard it before it was too late. But yeah thanks for the pointers..it will help guide me with which Nick Cave discs to start off with.
