biggrin I haven't listened to that album since it came out. Spring Again cracks me up! I remember when this album first came out...

...and I would play Make the Music with Your Mouth, Biz until my mom couldn't take it anymore!

Classic! Another album in my collection that still needs a cassette to CD upgrade! I was so aggravated when I got it and it didn't have the single version of Ladies First. That was back when I used to be glued to Yo, MTV Raps! Dem was the days... sigh

I can't recall if that's the mix that's on her greatest hits set. Even if it is, skip that damn disc! They edited the songs pissed It's pointless! So, on a song like U.N.I.T.Y. - where the original lyrics are essential - you get "Ya gotta let 'em know, you ain't a [silence] or a [silence]. Pointless!

I have it on the 12". I also have the "Come Into My House" 12" and "Mama Gave Birth to The Soul Children" 12". I used to buy every 12" single released for every album I had. I was crazy. nuts

Did you have the De La Soul "Say No Go" 12" with "Ain't Hip To Be Labeled A Hippe", "Brain Washed Follower", and "The Mack Daddy On The Left"?

I'm actually listening to This is Hardcore as I type this. nod And the video for the title track is one of my favorite videos ever.

I didn't get into We Love Life until recently though, mainly because I remember seeing an interview w/ Jarvis about this album, and he was saying how it was their "happy" album. So I was like: neutral "Oh. Well I don't think I'd like that then." So I never got it until now. yay! I love it. "The Birds in Your Garden" and "Sunrise" are just beautiful IMO.

I absolutely loved We Love Life - never quite caught on with Hardcore, though I think Like a Friend is among the finest songs they've recorded.

Anyway, I'm on huge Fall (new album out) and Dylan (still buzzing from the documentary) kicks right now, so they dominate my listening at the moment.

I've also been giving the Posies' frosting on the beater a lot of play lately. I've never thought this band really lived up to their reputation as the great power punk/pop band of the nineties, but they definitely knew how to work a melody when they came across one, and they did have excellent harmonies.

Yep. That particular album drove me nuts because back then I had a hard time finding the import only "Eye Know" 12". The "Me Myself & I" 12" is also noteworthy because it's triple-sided.

Love those two! Mary is my favorite of her albums. For a lot of fans, it's My Life, but there's a lot of great 70s inspired tracks on Mary. Aquemini is hot! I always listen to Synthesizer two or three times in a row.

Oh man, I think it's side B that has alternating grooves so depending on where you dropped your needle (odd or even grooves) you heard a different song. nuts nuts nuts nuts nuts

Blackalicious - The Craft
(anyone who liked the first one, but not the second, will be happy)
Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine

Erykah Badu - Mama's Gun
(why did it take me so long to hear this album?)

(they do "Let My Love Open the Door" for godsake!)
Liz Phair - Somebody's Miracle
(I hate her for making a crappy album that I can't stop playing until I get really confused and can't even tell if it's crappy anymore)
