Meh...

There was a time in my life when white boys could actually sing. Now, with all the Gavin DeGraw, Jamie Cullum, Jason Mraz, Howie Day, John Mayer warbles, I dunno.

Where's David Coverdale when you need him?

agree with most you mentioned, but John Mayer is a guilty pleasure of mine..... confused

Nobody's going to disagree with you that this isn't true jazz music.

But come on, can you really put this on a level of your average Britney Spears, Pussycat Dolls, and Blink 182 music? Just the piano playing alone puts it on a different level than "weak-ass pop shit".

I find more depth & innovation in Britney Spears, Pussycat Dolls & Blink 182 than I do in that musical corpse.

Everyone is due their opinion, but come' on. Why attack this guy. I don't think he exalts his music to be considered in the ranks of great jazz luminaries. It's just him mixing his taste and upbringing into a style that fits his musical abilities well. I give props to any artist who is able to make a living banging a way at a piano, instead of over choreographed aerobic err dance routines. To quote Jay-Z "Can I live?"

Thats cause most will categorize this guy in to a "jazz only" category and eat his lunch when he tries to release music..

thats just a dumbass thing to do, cause I dont even think he considers himself a jazz only artist...its a crossover thing..

and besides who gives a f*ck? If the music is good then whats the point.. and it is..

and his piano skills are amazing.. especially for his age..

I can't help that you don't appreciate timeless music. Cullum will be around long after PCD and Blink 182 have packed it in. Don't know about Britney, regardless of her musical merit, she's here to stay.

Man he really sucks

At least my cheesy shit ain't wannabe "trendy" nonsense. This is coffee table music ala snorah jones. He was bragging about how he met quincy jones down some back alley ( lol ) and quincy said he dug him or something. Frankly i couldn't care mate, but his ego sure does.

Here's my thing.. I heard some tracks, and I dug them.. thats it. it just comes to find out that he is really good at the piano, and a pretty good writer as well.

I dig

Photograph
London Skies

tracks like those.. it dont have shit to do with a promotion or "new artist", or some moment.. its just something that was a really well thought out composition.. this goes to anyone I listen.. & to the people that I dont.. u make a well thought out composition, and it attracts me to lik'en it.. i'll dig it... I dont have to do a reference check to see what age, color and preference he is in.. some put him in jazz cause thats what he likes to play.. fine.. no big deal.. I've heard true jazz and his music isn't true jazz, but that dont mean im gonna not listen to him...

if you dont like him and heard his album.. thats where i can understand..but when this boundary thing is up where he is gettin compared to "Britney spears" and fads like that.. you havent heard shit.

I'm not even a fan of PCD, Blink 182 or Britney but I honestly find them more innovative, interesting & less offenseive than Cullum. I honestly think he is a waste of space.

This isn't judging him from a jazz perspective, just from a music perspective. When one of his cover versions comes on the radio, it honestly leaves me feeling really drained and depressed.

Sure, technically he is quite a good piano player but he can't make it do anything that even remotely entertains or interests me. Boybands like Busted & McFly can play their instruments too but they're just as dull and bland.

I'm sorry to annoy people, as I'm sure this does, but is my honest opinion. Probably best if I just leave this thread alone and stop bringing you all down.
