Can we please give Klymaxx some props?! I love Bernadette Cooper! I wish she would get back into producing again. I love the stuff she did for Madame X!

YA FEEL ME!!!??
I have their FIRST album "Girls Will Be Girls" and Jimmy & Terry produced fire on all four tracks on it. "Wild Girls" (u can hear this rare jem on my site www.soundclick.com/izakteaz ) is fucking funky as hell... "Heartbreaker (Im Such A Mess)"  
The soulful and funky thanks to their instrumentation "The Man In My Life" and "All Turned Out" is ok, but not as interesting as the others. "Girls Will be Girls" is plain ..funky that is. They have 2 more albums that are very rare that I am finding out about too before Meeting In The Ladies Room. I have the 12" of "Multi Purpose Girls" which is very much like a Vanity6 song, produced also by Jimmy & Terry. Then Bernadette Coopers CD...hell yeah. I wasnt that in2 it at first but this shit is hot. I can understand that it didnt have real catchy material that wouldve stayed #1 or nuthin' but it was a good album for that era. it stayed to its roots while being commercial. I love Klymaxx but one thing that always bothered me about them is...
They broke up too soon! They had two big albums in the mid-80s,and several big hits ("The Men All Pause","Sexy","Meeting In The Ladies Room","I'd Still Say Yes","Man Size Love",etc) and they were on top.But then two of the key members (Bernadette Cooper and Fenderella) decided to launch solo careers,but their solo albums went nowhere.The group had only one more hit ("Good Love" in 1990) and then it was all over. Like The Time,I don't think they really reached their full potential.If all the members had stayed together throughout the rest of the 80s,they could have achieved so much more.I hate when group members leave a band at the height of their success (remember how the Time faltered after Jam and Lewis were sent packing?).It messes up the formula and these groups almost never re-cover. | |

Klymaxx had two sides. There were the ultra funky tracks spearheaded by Bernadette Cooper and the really mushy ballads by Fenderella. Man, I loved those funk tracks, but hated those sappy ballads.
"The Men All Pause", "Sexy", "Lock And Key", etc. 
"I Miss You" and "I'd Still Stay Yes" 
One odd track that I liked a lot is "Don't Hide Your Love". There really isn't anything special about it, but for some reason this song rubs me the right way. | |
