They suck...but they're there. It's the music industry in the US. If there's one thing the Euro music scene has on us, it's dance music. Alot of US dance music is underground. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? A bit of both. I think there's a romanticism of dance being underground, but I think there are some dance songs that should have been hits here in the US( Like Kylie's "I Believe In You" and Scissor Sister's "Comfortably Numb") With that said, Madonna still has a chance. It was the "new wave sucks" attitude very akin to "disco sucks" era of the late 70's early 80's. Of course not ALL music from overseas went by the wayside...but almost anything "new wavey" sounding did. Pretty much by 94 alot of the acts were gone or went more underground. just my opinion. maybe i'm the only one who feels this way, but; whatever.
while nowadays it's more like 5 mins of fame instead of 15, and people think a song that was released last month is considered "old"..... i'm not really understanding the "has-been" attitude by some people. and i don't mean the haters that have always been. but it appears to me some people think Madonna's last hit or relevance was over a decade ago, or that her last few albums were budget bin gems. though not a major 'hit', "American Life" still debuted at #1 on the U.S. charts, included a #1 hit "Die Another Day", countless dance-chart #1s and sold a bit over 5 million copies worldwide. (according to which source you choose to believe). a moderate hit duet with Britney Spears "Me Against The Music". prior to that was "GHV2" which was perhaps a half-assed effort by WB to cash in Madonna yet again and it still debuted in the top 10. just before that was the Grammy award winning "Beautiful Stranger", & the Grammy nominated album "Music". the album and title track both hitting the #1 spot. "Don't Tell Me" being a top 5 hit and still keeping her title on the dance charts and in discoteques worldwide. before that, the 4 time Grammy winning "Ray Of Light". also, let's not forget she had the top grossing concert of 2004. she hardly has been sleeping. 2 children, various companies to run, traveling back and forth between to continents...if that's considered a has-been; i'd love a slice!

Madonna's exclusive interview with Ryan Seacrest has just aired on z.100.com and on many other radio station worldwide. After an introduction a classic Madonna song, Music, has been played before the interview and Hung Up's "official premiere".
During the interview Madonna was asked "why a dance record?" To which she replied: "Because I wanted to get back to why I wanted to make music in the first place because I love to dance - the ultimate expression of joy. Madonna has also confirmed she is thinking of going on tour and discusses her new documentary. Liz Rosenberg is in the studio. "It's me 12 years later", Madonna says of the new docu comparing it to Truth or Dare. She says there is a connection between the titles of the two documentaries. "You see me cry a lot" she added. On Confession On A Dance Floor I wanted to get back to why I started making music in the first place, cause I loved to dance. And to me the idea of dance and music coming together is the ultimate expression of joy. On her condition after the accident One rib has not connected yet, I still have one fracturee in my scapula and my collar bone has not completely joined. It won't affect my tour, if i'm not healed by then there's something seriously wrong with me. But I danced quite enthusiastically in my video last week. On the new tour Lots of disco balls, I haven't actually planned the show yet. I got an eye on casting the dancers here and there. I'll have a lot of costume changes. On the new documentary It's me 12 years later, I didn't want to call it Truth or dare part 2 so it's a referece to that title. "I'm going to tell you secret" is sort of like "dares to tell the truth". You see a lot of behind the scenes stuff on the road, the making of the tour, all the rehearsals, you see me with my children and my family and you see me cry a lot. I don't know, you see me. On the Confession "phone line" I don't think I can say that in front of all these men looking at me. What would I confess? The thing about confession is that you have to feel anonymity you need to be in a dark room You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

VinnyM27 said: newskin69 said: I think "Hung Up" has a chance on Top 40. Madonna's still a VERY marketable name(not to mention that she more than redeemed herself from the American Life fiasco with the Reinvention tour).
Remember "Music"? That song sounded nothing like the NSYNC and Backstreet Boys sound that dominated radio at the time, yet it became her biggest hit in years. The way I see it is like this: If Cher, whom by 1998 had become a cultural relic and was subject to ridicule thanks to those damn infomercials, was able to score a massive hit with "Believe", than Madonna has a VERY GOOD chance. BTW, "Hung Up" is already hitting the dance charts hadr and is surpassing the number of spins that "Hollywood" had- ALL BEFORE THE SINGLE HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN RELEASED. At the time of "Music", dance music wasn't unheard of on radio. Now it's been all but banished. Maybe it's because there are no pop stations left. Over here, dance music doesn't get a chance unless it's disco (the light stations like to have flash back weekends). I remember early on stating and thinking that this will be a huge album in every way. It will either be a bit hit or a big bomb. Honestly, I know this sounds sudden, I think it will be a big bomb. Do I love "Hung Up"? Yes, more than I liked "AL" and I really liked AL! Just because it bombs doesn't mean it's bad. "All Nite" was irrestible but also ignored. I realize that there are dance stations that will eat this up but how many dance stations are there? Enough to to create a Top Ten hit? Rome wasn't built in a day and hip-hop dominating radio didn't happen in a day either. About ten years ago, I remember when pop stations used to edit out the rap in somg hip hop songs if possible ("Waterfalls" is a prime example). Now of days, hip hop took over and artists like Janet and Madonna are damn near banned. I don't see Madonna bringing pop back that quickly. Then again, if anyone could. Still, I don't see or hear it happening. At least fans will have the album...
