I love, love, love the SADE Lover Rock Live DVD! That one's sooo good to just chill out to. The stage looks really classy, great colors, great use of videos, great music.

I watched a Sade concert on video. I was grooving for a while, she's absolutely beautiful, the band is good, songs are good. I had to turn it off before it ended. The whole thing became so monotonous. Her voice, the songs, the band...

Well, I don't think I've watched the whole thing more than once or twice. But I put on whatever song from it, watch two or three and everything's alright!

Here you go (excluding Prince):

1. Wattstax

Thanks Abdul for mentioning this. I watch this one about once a month and true music fans at my home can't leave without seeing it. If you've never seen it then you are missing a CLASSIC! Mid 70s, 100,000 in LA Coliseum in commemoration of the WATTS riots. The commentary by Richard Pryor and Ted Lange (the real Ted Lange, not the watered-down version that played Isaac on the Love Boat) and interviews with locals are worth the buy alone. Staple Singers, Bar-Kays, Emotions, Rufus Thomas and others with a closing by Isaac Hayes.

2. Sade - Lovers Rock
When you're up against a trouble meet it squarely face to face. Lift your chin, set your shoulders, plant your feet and take a brace.

That's his style, man. lol

i KNEW you were going to say that. lol

There is a famous clip (well, famous here, anyway) of Neil Young recording his vocal for "Tears Are Not Enough", the Canadian version of "We Are the World".

After Neil's take, the producer (David Foster) says, "That was great, but could we do one more? You were just a little flat on 'innocence'". Neil responds, "That's my style, man".

i don't have an easy time listening to neil young. i usually can't stand hearing him sing, though for some really odd reason, i absolutely LOVE the 'greendale' album. shrug

Filmed on the venues inhouse cameras and so has the feel of a really good bootleg, but this is just a fantastic gig...
Morrissey's first full solo tour and the man was at the height of his powers as a live performer- strange moves, asexual stage outfits and a vibrant version of The Jams "That's Entertainment".
The gig finishes with Morrissey teasing the audience to stage invade during "Everyday Is Like Sunday" at which point the whole place erupts into a huge stage invasion that brings the gig to an ebrupt end- Excellent entertainment.

Aside from the odd song here and there, I'm not down with Neil.

I just looked it up and it was only available on VHS. It was a documentary made on the Rid of Me tour by that chick who always takes her photos.

I've been searching PJ DVDs on the Web lately and the only ones out there are bootlegs. There's one called A Place Called "Stage" that I'd love to see, but it looks like no one's converted it to NTSC. pout

I couldn't honestly list a boot as a favorite. I have a few Prince bootleg DVDs and while the performances are great overall, the substandard audio and video quality eventually gets to me. After seeing a few really crisp surround sound DVDs, I am spoiled.

The Banshees 7 Year Itch Tour DVD isn't bad. The sound is great, the editing is fantastic--it's like watching a fancy-schmancy MTV video, but Sioux's voice was crap on that tour so it doesn't get a mention from me.

Then again, it just did, right? lol

My current favorite:

NIN-With Teeth Tour-May 2005 Philadelphia.A bootleg, but it's done really well.Cool menus for a bootleg.Shot from the audience but right on the stage floor.

IMHO this is the best Madonna tour ever. The engery, the music, the dancing, the staging, and the costumes are perfect.

Loaded with many messages and references to past icons. Probably her most sexual tour and humerous tour. I love the interaction with the audience. Something she really hasn't done on this level since Girlie Show... though later parts of the RIT had longer interaction between Papa Don't Preach and Crazy for You.

This tour also hold speical for me because of it i was able to finally put a name on what made me feel differnt. THe cherography on Deeper and Deeper and The Beast Within made me realize i was gay.

Great Show!! The North and South American, European and Austrilian markets got the show broadcasted from Syndney on HBO. Japan got a differnt show filmed in Fukuoka. Differnt angles for each show, give a fuller version of what the show must have looked like. a show that only played 12 countries and 20 cities.
You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

My favorite concert DVD is Bob Marley and the Wailers: The Legend Live

Bob has so much charisma, energy and spirit in his performances.
