SCOTT WALKER Considering there is a great responce to Pulp's 'We Love Life' on another thread,
I thought that I'd start one on it's producer- SCOTT WALKER. Anyone keen on him? All the 'SCOTT' album series are fantastic- but special mention to "Montague Terrace(In Blue)" This is the track that got me into him- his voice, those lyrics...that music- PERFECT! Take some advice and really get into his back catalogue before you go near the more recent pieces- "TILT" is a real shocker for anyone who think that they know the music of Scott, but given time even that creeps into your blood system  "There is no such thing in life as normal..." | |

I love Scott Walker. His Scott 1,2,3,4 albums are great. "The old man's back again" & "The Plague" are my absolute favorites. I woke up sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert | |

Scott Walker (aka Scott Engel) was part of the fabulous Walker Brothers group from the 60s era.
Their single The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore is one of my favorites. Not hip to any of his solo work. tA  Tribal Disorder

Tilt is one of my favourite 'difficult' albums - I don't listen to it often, but when I do, I REALLY listen to it, if you know what I mean. It's definitely one of the weirdest, most incomprehensible records I've ever heard. I thoroughly adore Scott Walker - I loved the Walker Bros (Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore...I could go on for hours ranting about how much I love that song), I loved the Scott series (4 being a personal if predictable favourite), and I loved the four songs he recorded for the Walker Brothers' otherwise dismal mid-seventies record 'Nite Flights'. But my favourite Walker recording is probably the version of Tom Rush's No Regrets he did with the Walker Bros in '75 or so - melancholy at its purest. | |
