Michelle of DC3 talks about TLC

Interviwer: Recently, Destiny’s Child received an award at the World Music Awards for being the ‘World’s Best-Selling Female Group of All-Time.’ Tuesday night on ‘R U the Girl’ with T-Boz & Chilli, they were introduced as the world’s best-selling female group of all-time. Do you care to comment on this?

Michelle Williams: No, I don’t. We grew up listening to TLC but as far as that I have no comments on that. I just know that we got the award a few weeks ago, so I don’t know how they do there calculations or how they tally them. A lot of people can say the Dixie Chicks are the number one selling group or the Supremes. I dunno, we are all in this together. We’re all up there, it don’t matter to me if your number one or number two; I know my girls and I are up there. Destiny’s Child doesn’t get into all that foolishness. Life is definitely too short.

you can say that again.

sounded like michelle's words were to be neutral but with an attitude. Don't see why she would defend her gang so hard, cuz I truly feel that if DC would have continued on, they would have...without her and with a replacement. And besides that, Beyonce don't luv them hoes....
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

well, there was just a couple days ago "Chili of TLC talks about DC3"... that ended up being pretty much the same thing. "i've got nothing to say, why are you asking me this shit."

Yeah, right?! I was going to say the same thing! lol And The Supremes are the biggest selling - Gordy just never certified their sales.

You MIGHT be right. I mean The Supremes do have the benefit of being out much longer then the other groups and I'm sure their catalogue still sells to this day, but you can't get past the fact that promotion has improved so much since the 60's that records just didn't sell that much back then. I mean just one of TLC's albums sold over 10 million copies in the US alone. I think DC3 sold 11 million on "Writing's". But without statistics for The Supremes it's uncertain to say.

Could be. But "best selling" is a vague statement. If you're included singles and albums, I would wager that The Supremes have got them all beat! Those girls sold a hell of a lot of singles back then. If I'm not mistaken, there were only a couple of Supremes singles that were certified - 2 gold and 2 platinum. In those days, gold cert was 1 million and platinum was 2 million (today's gold is 500,000 and platinum is 1 million). If we're going by certification, it's an estimation I think. But realistically, it's The Supremes.
