New Madonna: "Hung Up" re-uses Prince duet lyrics...

Anybody else notice in Madonna's hot new single "Hung Up", that she's reusing the lyrics from "Love Song", that duet she did with Prince (over the phone) from her Like a Prayer CD:

"time moves on so slowly for those who wait, and those who run seem to have all the fun"!

I love it! Wonder if Prince gets songwriting credit.

I also love her using that ABBA sample! I only want to hear remixes of songs I used to like anyway so I'm diggin this single.

ya heard it?

where have u been?????

Prince doesn't get credit for the lyrics of Hung Up...Madonna usually writes her lyrics and the basic melody...then her producer update the melody! wink

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I'm not computer savvy, so I can't tell you how to hear it online, but if you have any 'top 40 oriented' radio stations in your city owned by Clear Channel, you should be able to hear it there. It's okay, but it'll take me awhile to get used to it as I love the ABBA song it samples.

For some reason, I don't believe that.

I love Madonna but I don't like the idea of her using lyrics from previously released songs like that. You'll also notice she sings "don't cry for me..." which is actually more of a nice nod to "Evita" rather than the reuse of lyrics like she did with "Love Song".

Um, okay.....

I think if Prince did write those lyrics, he would be pitching a fit and suing her. She does write her own lryics!

Causing a Commotion
I've got the moves baby, you got the motion
If we got together we'd be causing a commotion
I've got the moves baby, you got the motion
If we got together we'd be causing a commotion

You met your match when you met me
I know that you will disagree it's crazy
But opposites attract you'll see
And I won't let you get away so easy

The love you save may be your own
Can't fight this feeling, aren't you tired of being alone
You won't admit it but you know it's true
It's not a secret how I feel when I stand next to you

(chorus)

Someday you'll see my point of view
You can't keep wishing on the stars baby
What works for me can work for you
You've got to make a compromise and maybe

Then we can keep our love alive
And when it falls we won't let it die
It doesn't matter if you win or lose
It's how you play the game so get into the groove

(chorus)

Causing a commotion, causing a commotion
Causing a commotion, causing a commotion

Intermediate:

I hope you find what you're looking for
Is it mine, walk through that door
We're wasting time, make up your mind
And get into the groove

Then we can keep our love alive
And when it falls we won't let it die
It doesn't matter if you win or lose
It's how you play the game so get into the groove

(intermediate)
(chorus)

Causing a commotion, causing a commotion
Causing a commotion, causing a commotion

I heard it on Friday (the 14th) on my way home from work. As I love "Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)" - it was bizarre to hear Madonna use such a heavy sample. But I think I like it. smile

And the "waiting" from the chorus of "Waiting" is actually from "Justify My Love" ("Wanting, needing, waiting for you...").

Come to think of it, "Lucky Star", "Little Star"; "Like A Virgin", "Like A Prayer", "Can't Stop", "Don't Stop" - perhaps it's all been just one big song!!!

to those of you who have heard it on the radio....is it the same radio edit that leaked last week? Some people were saying that the version we heard last week is not the real thing, that the official radio edit is longer and different.

Seeing as the version on the radio is the only one I've heard, I'm not sure if it's an "edit" or not. Sorry.

"Bedtime Story" (the single, not the ablum "Bedtime Stories") didn't chart high. "American Life" didn't yeild any hit singles (at least not in the U.S.). I think the majority of people aren't apt to listen to Madonna simply because she's Madonna. Which is why she's back doin't the pop/dance stuff she's so freakin' good at.
