Can Anybody Recommend Any Santana Albums I Should Buy? I listened to some of the Moonflower material he recorded in 1978 from my Napster program, (which didn't have all of the tracks available) and I loved what I heard. I mean there was soul, epic rock jams, ballads, jazz, and salsa on there and Santana and Co. was at their best here, in my opinion. I only have one of his records in my collection, and that will be (well, you guessed it), his 1999 album, Supernatural. That's pitiful isn't it? After listening to some of the tracks off of Moonflower, I was mindblowed and I said to myself, "I have to get this!" I was hoping if any of you all had any recommendations of which Santana records I should buy first with Moonflower because I'm definitely getting that record. The following are three of my favorites and they contain some very good material. I favor Caravanserai the best out of the three I've posted because it's simply mindblowing and so jazzy/experimental. Abraxas and Santana III are very good too but they are more commercial and accessible. These three albums are done by the original line-up.

Carlos Santana and Buddy Miles Live
Killer version of "Evil Ways" done with horns. "Freeformfunkafiedfilth" on the original album I believe it took up one complete side. Live at the Fillmore 1968 "Conquistadors Ride" a 15 min jam that is sick. By the way, I'm going 2 see this 10/14 again. [Edited 10/10/05 22:37pm]

Eventually, you should get all of his albums, but these are the five that I would recommend that you start out with...
Abraxas(1970) Welcome (1973) Borboletta (1974)---this is my favorite Santana album.Buy it today!! Amigos(1976) Festival (1977) As you can see,I am partial to his 70s work It was during this period where his albums covered alot of ground: Latin rhythms,R&B,funk, jazz fusion,pop...he really took it to another level.
