Buckethead, whatcha think?? I recently started to listen to guitarist Buckethead. With the image of a KFC bucket on that guys head and some mask I was thinking gimic all the way. I kinda thought he would be more into playing metal (knowing his gigs with GnR and the guys from Primus) but I found his jams to be more mello, funk, acoustic..a lot more than just the metal riffs I was expecting. Though he can play fast and with precision.
After listening to the cd: "Les Claypool - Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains" which includes Bernie Worrel PFunk keyboardist, I thought what a combination hmm..Buckethead in the PFunk allstars, that would be a winning combo! The cd is funk, kinda close to "Glasscutter" style, I'm not into Claypools singing but can't resist those funk jams among Bucket, Brains and Bernie. Anyone else here listen to Buckethead??? George Clinton's new cd has been spinning here lately also..

However it would be a waste of time and effort at this point. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. If you liked colonel claypool's bucket of bernie brains, you should check out "Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis)". Buckethead, Bernie and Bootsy were all part of a short-lived bill Laswell produced project called "Praxis". It's funk, hip-hop and thrash metal and bernist ambient stuff all thrown together, it's quite fun.

B'Head is da bomb. He's prolly the only guy outside of PFunk extending Eddie Hazel school of guitar playing. Also check these out. HE'll be in So Cal in NOvember and I'll be there! test

He releases more than a year than most do in a decade. He and Prince have somethin in common
Check it. Here's the list -A duets album produced by Serj from System of a Down-october 25th -New Praxis album "Profanation"-later this year first Praxis studio album in over a decade -Viggo Mortensen/Bucket ambient album with soundbites from politicians-out now -And another solo called Kaledioscalp- in november If you want to hear what he does with George Clinton someone upload Hideous Mutant Freaks. That song is underrated Laswell is the brilliant one who hooked up Bucket with Bootsy. Have you heard Zillatron? Thats Bootsy's most demented concept album to date. buy this here: http://www.amazon.com/exe...ce&s=music here is the best place for the discography: http://www.bingeandgrab.c...raphy.html - have you seen this site for c2b3 http://www.c2b3live.com/do/welcome every live show of the first tour lol here is the latest article about the Serj project http://www.rollingstone.c...on=single1 So far he has released one disc so far this year which is a improvisational in the studio disc called "Gorgone" which is mailorder and downloadable. it's studio sessions from a previous record that they thought the fans would want. Bucket's stuff with Travis Dickerson is pretty nice. you can get alot of his work at http://www.tdrsmusic.com the next one to come out is "enter the chicken" http://images.amazon.com/...ZZZZZ_.jpg [Edited 10/14/05 7:34am]

PFunkjazz, Thanks for the suggestions. So far I have Population Overrive, Colma and The Big Eyeball in the Sky.
I will be going to see Buckethead in Orlando. Hey, a day at Disney and then a Buckethead show, I should be a good friday. Have you seen Buckethead before and do they sell a lot of his cds at the show??? I may have to bring a couple hundred and stock up! This guy has mad technique, and I love it he knows how to slow it down and play with emotion. Some guys only know how to play fast and stop on the guitar, for instance George Lynch. Other guys know how to play fast and when they slow it down not as good or missing emotion, IMO Nuno plays like that, though I love his fast playing.

When I see him in Nov (and the last tiem I saw him) it was at the House Of Blues Anaheim which is located at Downtown Disney (one of those contrived corporate malls they put in white folx neighborhoods). It's right across the street from Disneyland. Yes, bring plenty of cash so you can get a lot of the hard-to-find releases and some nice bootlegs too. Should be some DVDs there too. Bring a SHARPIE and a cheapie camera too, cuz B'head will hang and sign and pose (just don't ask him to remove the mask). This guy has mad technique, and I love it he knows how to slow it down and play with emotion. Some guys only know how to play fast and stop on the guitar, for instance George Lynch. PFJ: It was kinda funny cuz these white youngstas were tryin' to mosh it up, but the music was really kinda mellow/trippy; not really frantic. For some reason, the opening bands were shitty punk bands and all the B'head fans (over 30 black, white, brown & whatever) guffawed as the mosh never got going. [Edited 10/14/05 8:33am] test
