Gotta have endorsements. It's most cool it the bass you play or the mike you like or the amp you cramp pays you a stipend when you use their product or drop their name when you bet interviewed. Manufacturer's got deep pockets for that kinda thing cuz it's all advertising dollars. Only thing better is to have a patent on a gizmo or gadget that muggs simply gotta use, that's how you get paid and don't have to work hard.

Outside of that, invest wisely when you get paid.

I worked in the Music business, in the Publishing and Writing royalties end. What a lot of artists do when they need money is this : they get a bank loan, and use their royalties as a way to pay back the loan . So they may get , say $100,000 upfront from the bank, and all future royalties are paid to the bank or lending institution until the loan is satisfied (with interest). You would be surprised at some of the names I seen doing that. There's even a lending organization located in Beverly Hills that's sole purpose is to lend money to songwriters, and they have some VERY well known clients

David Bowie was reported doing this a few years ago and Michael Jackson was rumored to have done so to defray court cost in his recent child molestation and I ssuspect sure Paul McCartney has done it a number of times.

This is a really interesting subject. I always wondered how do artists surivive without touring and also making any music. Making cds off of their craft alone doesn't pay the bills. I always assumed they make their money off of touring or performing alone. Also some artists go to acting because they make more money and plus they don't have to pay advance.

They should get a fuckin' education and invest their money instead of spending it on "bling-bling", cars and houses they can't really afford.

I have to respect certain rules of confidentaility. But let's just say one of the people doing this was the Biggest of the Big, the most Well known musician alive today (so that eliminates Elvis and John Lennon ...LOL)

Sorry, can't do it. The company I worked for had us sign confidentiality agreements, and we could be held liable for releasing such info

Both Forbes magazine and Rolling Stone Magazine run articles each year on the top Entertainment money earners, and and estimate on how much they've brought in

I didn't work directly for the artists. I worked for the company that paid them song-writer and publishing royalties
