What's wrong with Madge's accent?? I've heard so many people dissing her about it. What's the big deal? Sometimes when people move to other countries they acquire accents of the people who there.

She's pretty much always talked like that. I don't see the big deal either.

Are you English? If not you might not appreciate thast she talks like a bad actress's idea of an upper class English accent. Wait a minute, she IS a bad actress isn't she ....I rest my case. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

She's still always talked like that. It isn't anything new. Watch any of her interviews as far back as '89, and she sounds the same. And to me, she's always sounded more like an uptight snob reading cue cards, rather than British.

While she has always sounded like an uptight snob, now she sounds like she's trying to edge in a foreigner's idea of upper-class English into that uptight snob. I notice a bit of a difference, and I don't even pay that much attention to her. [Edited 10/5/05 7:21am] "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

For the most part,I really don't mind her accent. But I gotta admit, she sounded horrible in the film 'The Next Best Thing'.She uses this accent at the beginning of the film and it is just dreadful to listen to

I think it got worse after Evita but I blamed it on her vocal training. It sometimes happens to people when they study voice and/or accents and period pieces. Proper diction is a large part of it. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I agree with shapeshifter, it appeared when she started hanging about with the crew she later maaried into, same time she started wearing tweed and burberry, living in a big country house, hunting and generally losing her roots and acting like the English snob she wishes she was! Im sorry, its just not very cool....
Imagine if she came onto the scene now, as she is now, and we hadnt heard of her before - she wouldnt be very cool would she! Then again Im biased, I never liked her!

Dewrede said: She's totally fake Thank you. I totally disagree with you guys who said she always talked like that. No, she didn't. I remember seeing her on Letterman years ago around Dick Tracy/Truth or Dare times and she did not have that fake ass accent. She didn't talk like she does now in Truth or Dare either.

a snooty english woman from Nutbush city limits Oh, yes. I heard Madame Tina do a phone interview with Tom Joyner earlier this year and I wanted to scream. She practically punctuated every sentence with "dahling." The basic feel was, "I'm oh-so-very European, daaaahling, I hardly know an ass-tickling crumpet crumb about what's going on over there in the oh-so-pedestrian United States, daaaahling."
