Biggie is overated

He was good, but not around long enough to be considered great. Big daady kane is by far a much better rapper...

Of course Puffy still milking this guy like "a weekend at bernie's" let this man rest in peace and try to get your own career and stop runing everyone elses that you work with!!!

I always thought he was overrated, too. Actually, I don't like his music at all.

Well Hendrix could have been around longer too neutral I'm not saying Big is to rap was Hendrix was to music but I think measuring his skill based on his time in the game is just stupid...

Big daady kane is by far a much better rapper...

Okay, now you're just high lol Kane was cool @ the time but Biggie had a great flow. Have you gone back & listened to Kane lately? It's barely tolerable now. Kane had good timing, Biggie had good rhymes.

Of course Puffy still milking this guy like "a weekend at bernie's" let this man rest in peace and try to get your own career and stop runing everyone elses that you work with!!!

NOW I'm with you clapping I can't believe Pufferass is STILL milking Big's death, he really should be ashamed disbelief

Biggie is mean, go have a proper listen to "ready to die".
If you can handle the anger at the start you'll realise it's genius.

Rappers seem to be at their peak when they haven't made big dough yet...

Biggie is definitly NOT overrated. He was the savior of east coast hip hop in the mid 90s. His flow, his swagger, his influence was unmatched for its time.

How long ago did he die? 6 or 7 years ago?

If I see or hear another Bibbie/Tupac tribute I'm going to fucking kill myself.

falloff That comment and the misspelling in the title thread (which looks suspiciously like "Biggie overate") are giving me the giggles.

Anyway, I agree that he was overrated, but his talent behind the mic could not be denied. He had a voice and style all his own. I don't think I can ever recover from the trauma of hearing him talk about some chick that wanted him to shit on her, but hey...he had real talent.

He is overrated and I wish they would stop comparing him to 2 Pac...2Pac was much more profound with his lyrics then Biggie!!! This brother was deep in the waters not remaining on the shoreline like Biggie!!! He was well educated and profound outside of his rapping abilites as well--- people just never allowed him to show this side of himself.....

Peace

Very true. Great as the two albums he made in his lifetime were, I never thought he came remotely close to Rakim, Chuck D, LL Cool J at his peak (a lot of valleys back), most of the Wus, not to mention 2Pac, Snoop and Ice Cube.

As for Puffy - well, how lucky can one guy with limited talent be? Although i have to say, he's a promising actor.

With all respect due to each of you, you're all on crack. Biggie is one of the greatest rappers of all time. But, like my man Steve Harvey said, "If yall ain't feelin this, then goddammit this ain't for you."

Biggie was one of the best. All of you saying he's not, how much of his music did you actually listen to? Even read his lyrics? Biggie had an excellent flow with a voice that has not been matched. Except kinda by Shyne but that's a different thread. biggrin

That's the main reason why Biggie deserves to be in my top 10 all-time list of best rappers. He help put the hip-hop east coast division back on track.
