I really like the album. Not sure if it's as powerful as The Dreaming or Hounds Of Love, but it certainly has moments of greatness and is a massive improvement from The Red Shoes.

Joanni would make a great single... maybe How To Be Invisible too, as I think would Sunset (maybe if it were given a little editing).

I was disappointed a little by A Coral Room. In my opinion it isn't in the same league as This Womans Work or even Moments Of Pleasure.

The highlight on the album for me is Sunset. Very classy, beautiful lounge-singer vocals over a jazzy piano... and the latin influence at the end blows you away.

I'm also very impressed by Nocturne (sounds like a Moby record)... although I'm not too keen on the title track. Sounds like a bad 90s dance record.

Do you think that's Bertie in the cd booklet? And is that Kate swimming under water? (With the goggles on). I couldn't quite tell. hmmm

It has to be.....he looks just like her in that underwater pic. mushy That's Kate too.... that pic. is just adorable. I see why she's so crazy about Bertie....he looks so precious. smile Plus there's a picture of him by the song "Bertie", so most likely it's him.

nod

I think so, too.

So what song does everyone think is begging to be released as the next single??

My choice: Joanni.

Imagine the video! drool

biggrin I've seen a Japanese poster advertising Aerial with the quote, "includes the single KOTM and HOW TO BE INVISIBLE!!!
Joanni should be a single along with Somewhere in between, but imagine a massive club mix of Nocturn!?!

woot!

I'll be extremely happy with any of those choices.

But Joanni's the one for me. drool

i've only been able to give it one spin, but after one listen my ears were definitely thrilled at what came out of my speakers. i will say i was expecting "Washing machine" and "Bertie" to be disappointing after all of the negative things i've read about those tracks, to my surprise, i found them to be solid tracks. nod

Oh, and if that wasn't fam enough for you, i'm mos def gonna get one of the Aerial t-shirts, a KOTM sweatshirt and an aerial lithograph. razz

That album is such a lifeless drag. The most disappointing album of the year for me apart from that appalling soundtrack of Bjork's. Even Fiona's album was pretty boring. Kate's the only fave female artist of mine that's impressed me this year. All others have been a big let down.

It's not even something I like to admit. Just telling it how it is from my point of view. I know a lot of people are very fond of The Beekeeper but I just found it bland. After a pretty strong start Extraordinary Machine got boring very quickly. And Drawing Restraint 9 was dreadful. I love all three women but in my opinion they've all delivered poor efforts this time around.

Maybe next time. smile

honey, you own my jimmy...

i wish more folk here would be as objective as you are. (but i personally loved Fiona's album. but then i wasnt a fan before so i might not have the full picture.)

and my love for Aerial grows with each listen. i hope prince here's this and realizes that you dont have to release crap like Rave or Musicology and let his fans justify it cause he has been in the industry so long.

Man I wish Kate Bush was my mom and wrote me that Bertie song!!
But then I don't think though that I would ever be able to resolve the Oedipal crisis! horny

Aerial, the title track and all of Sky of Honey is just so exhilarating!
The "most stunning 42 minutes you will hear this year"!

Kate sounds still so youthful, but so mature, sophisticated, exuberant, joyful, playful, lovely, still Kate quirky, divine, sublime!

My lawd, can we have a new sticky for this album? This one was mainly about the prelude to the album's release. It'd be nice if we could have a nice new thread where we can review the album and pick it apart.

We've had about 203 Madonna/Confessions threads, so I don't think it's too much to ask to have a new Kate Bush/Aerial one.
