OK. now I feel a bit ill-informed for making this thread, because I have HEARD the live album and did not buy it. I generally don't dig live albums, especially when it is a rehash of previously released studio material.

But why would you say this is her best? (or your favorite)

btw, I've been thinking about buying the live one, I just wanted to read some other fans' perception of it.

It's always hard to be your debut.

all hell no all you wack ass muthafukkas who rank "baduizm" as no. 1

1. Mama's Gun
2. Worldwide Underground
3. Live

4. Baduizm

I love it all but her debut was the most commercialized, 'neo soul' 'safe' r&b with songs like 'next lifetime.' "sometimes" and "certainly" are the jams tho.

I can't say you're (completely) wrong. But Baduizm, considering the time it was released, was head and shoulders above what was dropping around that time, and along with Brown Sugar and Urban Hang Suite, it opened a lot of doors.

And I think neo-soul is often criticized unfairly. More on that later.

Well....Baduizm and the live cd are really similar....I like Worldwide but its not the first thing I pop in...yanno.

I want u is the hottness...so I like the ep.

Regarding the commericalism of Baduizm....Erykah has said that she can't help that what she was vibin' to was the very thing most ppl were vibin' to....smile

Yup. If Neo Soul dies....good luck with the Ying Yang Twins featuring R. Kelly.

For those of you that don't have or are dissing the Live album...you don't know what you're missing. Get it JUST to hear her do Chaka Khan's "Stay" and THEN to here her backup singer N'Dambi BLOW THE FUCKIN' LIGHTS OUT ON "NEXT LIFETIME/YOU DON'T HAVE TO CRY"!!!!!

thank god the two biggest Badu fans on here are in agreement that Mama's Gun is her masterpiece...

but WU is such a close second for me. it was the album that made me a fan. how can you NOT love "Bump It" "Back in the Day" "Woo" and the "love of my life" remix??? "Think twice" aint bad either

the only joint i dont feel on that one is "the grind" because there's not enough Erykah
