Does Shawna like her? I know Darin does. We need to make this a full-on reunion.

I'm afraid you're alone on that one and Psychic TV. i'm dragging your butt to a diamanda show sometime. her studio work doesn't do her justice. you've got to hear that voice live. she is absolutely amazing, and her performance will absolutely shatter any preconcieved notions you have of her.

you should start with some of her albums of blues/jazz standards, like 'the singer', 'la serpenta canta' or...uh....i forget the name of it, but it has a closeup of her face on the cover with her hair blowing in her face, and all the songs are live recordings of old blues songs. these albums really give an idea of what a good vocalist and pianist she is (she's operatically trained as a vocalist, and as a pianist, she studied with ornette coleman). after that, if you're still into her stuff, you can move on to the more 'edgy' material, like 'you must be certain of the devil' and 'the sporting life', which she recorded with john paul jones of led zeppelin. my favorite stuff by her is her versions of old standards. her experimental stuff can get too "out there", even for me...but i do think she's a phenomenal talent. nobody else does what she does, that's for sure.
