I appreciate the name check, man, and I'm sorry I missed your earlier stuff. What can I say...I am a crusader for what was once loved but has now, with the passage of time, has become loathed. A lot of people treat artists from the 80's and especially 90's as drunken one night stands they don't want to remember. I think that they deserve some sort of reverence and am trying to bring them back to public consciousness. I can't give myself complete credit because there is a "Field of Dreams" like voice that visits me every couple of weeks with my next assignment for rescuing.
All good things they say never last...

His tastes may not be the most varied, but I think Anx's tastes are definitley the coolest. Stuff like:

Sonic Youth
Diamanda Galas
The Residents
Peaches
New Order
David Bowie
Hole
Bauhaus
etc.

I don't think it's possible for Anx to like any music that really sucks. He needs to hang out with thesexofit or something and develop a taste for pop-crapola (sorry thesexofit, you know what I mean). Then maybe I'll nominate him for most varied musical taste.
Anx's definately has very cool taste in music. He's into Sly Stone, too. nod

it's so funny - you guys make me feel like such a music snob, like i should be managing a wrecka stow with jack black or something. lol

but when i go to my real life local wrecka stow, i feel like you guys must feel around me - the people who work there are like LORD KING AND QUEEN BUFU of music snobs! i remember asking for the new saint etienne one day and the girl at the counter looked at me like i'd just raped her chihuahua. rolleyes

my point? no matter how 'with it' you think you are about music, there's always gonna be someone out there more obsessed to make you feel like a dumbass. and really, i don't want to get to a point where i'm lord king bufu music snob. i like sharing what i know and what i like with other people. sometimes i get tired of explaining the same stuff over and over, but i try my best to get over myself and stay enthusiastic.

nod Exactly. I thought I knew enough to get me by in life, and then I started talking with theAudience and many, many others here who knew so much about a really diverse field of musical interests. That truly is the thing I appreciate most about this message board: the broad range of musical tastes. If I don't know it and can't figure it out on my own, I can come here!

Incidentally, I should lay off the nod and highfive. Somebody's going to think I'm Legs reincarnate.

Wow. I'm lucky i've never run into any of those types.

I'd tell 'em in a NY minute, "Just ring my shit up bitch so I can get the fuck outta here!" disbelief

That's why this is my favorite forum. True wisdom in everything is figuring out all the things you DON'T know and trying to learn it. And I've realized how little music I know in comparison to many others in this community!

Indeed. And I disagree with whomever said that we only discuss R&B and funk here. I'm sure they're discussed more than other genres, but I see plenty for all here!

i just giggle, usually. considering the experiences i've had in my life - the shows i've seen, the people i've met, the music i've heard - i figure, let 'em have their smug demeanor and their air of superiority. we all have to start somewhere. wink

The best thing about this site isn't that it's devoted to Prince, but that Prince fans have the most diverse tastes of any artist I can think of.

Color Me Badd to Diamanda Galas to Led Zeppelin to Sun Ra!

Where else?
