Except isn't it from '87? I'm blurry. 87 sounds right but I went to CD now and they had it listed at 1990 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I just did a review today about the guys next door. A long lost gem of a pop album http://www.epinions.com/c...1476?nli=1 epinions are tough critics. So far, i got a good rating on that review. But when u check my other reviews, u'll notice iam reviewing the same shit over and over. Still fun to do though sometimes. My essay structure and simplicity is a real turnoff. Iam awful really.

One cat i truly do miss posting here is JazzVibrator! That guy hipped me to alot of stuff i probably wouldn't have stumbled onto for a long time. He always seemed to know when something new an obscure/underground would drop. i also miss his current jam of the moment he use to plug into his sig.

Full force did better with anxiety's fav sam fox though and latoya jackson Sam from england u know. I bet u americans thought u died and went to heaven when u found out her guns were natural. No, you have to really like it, like know all the words backwards and forwards and tell everyone to shut up when the video comes on. Like I said--not possible. Deee-Lite could be a possible crossover artist for both Anx and thesexofit.

i really don't have an ear for pop music produced in the late '80s/early '90s, it's true. i understand that it's aging into the disco of its time, and probably within the next ten years, stuff like color me badd and c+c music factory will be coming back with a vengeance as young'uns start to discover it and people who lived through it the first time will be coming back to it as some kind of nostalgia trip. everything gets recycled. but as of now, i can't go there. it all sounds way too one-dimensional to me, plus i really don't like the style of house/dance music that informed a lot of the top 40 stuff around that time. it just ain't me. not that there wasn't music released during that time that i don't like...it just didn't fall into that whole genre/formula/whatev. but there ARE exceptions. what they are, i couldn't tell ya right now... Lisa Lisa I used to really like Lisa Lisa and all that Full Force stuff (except for Latoya Jackson). I still have most of the 12" singles. That's why I am not as cool as Anxiety and can only talk to thesexofit about those records.

Yeah i guess Prince is the only connection maybe. Though i rarely hear the midget anymore. I love "the continental", hows that anxiety? Too poppy (and the carmen part does suck, i always fade it then)

I own over 8000 records, for fuck’s sake. Couldn’t at least one person name-drop me?
Harrumph…maybe it’s my breath. Anyway, I have to give credit to theaudience and paligap: I always notice and appreciate their posts, particularly since they always display vast knowledge in areas that I’m almost completely ignorant (jazz, fusion, funk). Also, despite the fact he constantly insists on posting the puke emoticon every time the Beatles are mentioned, despite the fact he gave a fucking Richard Marx album 3 ½ stars on rateyourmusic.com, despite the fact he thinks Franz Ferdinand are the finest modern rock has to offer, I have to give grudging consideration to moonbeam, if only for somehow finding the musical bridge from the Velvet Underground to Kylie Minogue. I don’t know if Anxiety has the most diverse taste, but I like almost everything that he mentions that I’ve heard of, and I think everything else he mentions sounds very interesting.

Maybe, but i got a feeling hammer season is out, permanently over there, but it might be funny to actually do reviews like that. So, what about "the continental". That song is rarely brought up on here. And yeah "lemon crush" is dope. And i gotta say, those frenzied drums, keyboards and in general, the meches of treble deafening snares are really, really dated . Iam surprised. In theory u should like the production of "turtle power". Lyrically though, that song may be tough for u to like.

Harrumph…maybe it’s my breath. hey, now. i don't even think i started my list yet. but you'd be on it. you're about the only person on here who even KNOWS who some of my more obscure favorites are. who else am i gonna talk about the high llamas with? thesexofit?! most folks could probably guess who i'd list, and i'm not going to insult the ones i would foolheartedly forget. i'm going to cheap out and say that most of the popular choices on this thread would be my choices as well, except for one name that hasn't been mentioned: sassybritches. he hasn't steered me wrong yet on shit-hot new bands that i've come to really love, like !!! and sufjan stevens. when he suggests some obscure new band these days, i pay attention. everyone else should, too.
