And I've noticed that she's been choosing shows that didn't have her regular full 4 song encore.

there are a few i'm really happy to see... Suzanne, in particular, and Not the Red Baron. Icicle will be nice.
And glad to see Scarlet and Venus show up finally on these live discs...

also of note, the first 2 live-CDs are available now on Itunes for those who haven't picked them up yet. They are EXCELLENT so i definitely encourage all Tori fans to check them out.
And yeah.... Venus was neglected on this tour. Venus is aging well, i think.... Lust has recently "come out" to me in a way it never has before.... it just clicked, i dunno. Beautiful song....

That's always been one of my favorites. And I agree about Venus. She smartly avoided making a trendy electronica record, and instead incorporated the synths and drum machines in an organic way. I love the way the instruments are blended together on that album.

Many people seen to have a problem with Venus but to me it is brilliant. The live side, especially Precious Things and Cruel are crazyinsane ~ I get complete spirit bumps and feel like I'm right in the center of the audience when they are playing. Cooling, Sugar, Little Earthquakes, Cloud On My Tongue and Purple People are all in my favourite Tori songs list (which is quite extensive). OMG ~ just reading the track list makes me Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran

Interesting that three of my favourite artists are using a Japenese inspired or stylized bird in their cover art this year ~ Tori, David Sylvian and Sigur Ros. All very simple but incredibly beautiful. Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran

And glad to see Scarlet and Venus show up finally on these live discs... Suzanne is one of the most amazing songs ever. I have the original by Leonard Cohen on vinyl from my college days. Can't wait to hear Tori's version. Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran

Check out www.yessaid.com if you haven't already. It's a goldmine for quotes and analysis of her work. I've learned a ton from that site.

See, I've never given the live disc much attention. I know it's great, but it's all about the studio half for me.

I love the studio half too ~ it's just that live songs on cd rarely come as close as these do to actually being in the audience. It's always a difficult choice when I have time to listen to only one disc! [Edited 10/2/05 19:24pm] Music is the language of the spirit. something very odd happened w/ my last message.
Anyway, i was trying to post that peter gabriel's version of "suzanne" is on the same leonard cohen tribute CD that includes Tori's "famous blue raincoat". Great stuff!

[Edited 10/2/05 19:24pm] moonsongs, i am so down with you here! cruel is far from one of my favorite tori tracks but life, on this recording, man it is just hardcore! towards the end when she's all "tear it out and tear it out and tear it out again!" i just bout lose my mind! have you ever noticed the long hissing sounds she makes with almost all her S's on that live disc? its very creepy.
