Whewwwww!! That song is FUNKY! I like the Bar Kays 70's stuff. But in the 80's they started ripping off the MPLS sound. "Hit And Run" Sounds just like a Time song. And Sex-O-Matic sounds like Prince. | |

They were rippin' off sounds from other artist's in the 70's also.... 'Shine' is a ripoff of EWF's 'On Your Face' The tune 'I'll Dance' is a convincing P-Funk sound.... And of course the 'awwoooww!!!' that Larry Dobson did, came from Sugarfoot of the Ohio Players...

They would not have heard of them when they recorded the song. I do know what you mean about The Bar-Kays ripping off other groups' sounds though. In the past, they have sounded similar to Prince, Midnight Star, Rick James, and The Ohio Players. The Bar-Kays even copied themselves with "Move Your Boogie Body" and "Body Fever".
