Alanis Morrisette releases "The Collection"

This is going to be an interesting release for several reasons. Despite cranking out many memorable singles from her first CD and having the occassional hit like "Hands Clean", she's not a greatest hits sort of gal but "The Collection" seems like a fitting title, if not kind of generic. And if you think the title is unoriginal/bad take a look at the cover which scream "photoshop fan created"! It's a damn hand and had all the titles of the songs around it.....very strange! Judging from the cover, a good tracklisting. Worth it just for "Uninvited"! and the release date? I thought it was going to be the 7th of Nov....but Madddy has something up her sleve because it will go head to head with "Confessions". Granted, Alanis is not going to have a number one disc in November ever again (maybe in a slower month like March...) but still.... Any comments?

The pic is on Amazon and they won't let you post it....as for the tracklisting...it's written all over the cover.

I'll try to see if I can post a pic from another site.

I mean... what are the costs for putting out previously-released material? There should have been money left over in the budget for an extravagent package.

I remember that song (and the video). Kind of werid but yeah, probably should have been on there. Maybe she didn't like it.

maybe she didn't want it to be so `90s-centric, but cmon, know your audience!

I think I remember "Unsent". How many tracks from her second proper CD (I should say her second proper Maverick CD) are on there...just "Thank You"? Why no early ninties/late eighties stuff, huh? No "Precious Allusions". It had a memorable video (I wouldn't mind a collection of her videos as well...all of them, though) and got a lot of play in Canada and was a hit there (there is a Canadian pop station that plays over here).

oh yeah! Precious Illusions! Now that's actually from this decade - should have made it on here.

Looks like she made room for the soundtrack-only songs, which would be nice for people who already have her LPs.

I don't even know what the names of those songs were....those CDs don't exsist! She did a pretty good job of trying to make that teen pop career seem as if it never happened.

I bought her "Under Rug Swept" album first just based on "Hands Clean" and was not impressed. However, when I heard that song a few times on the radio (and somewhat recently), I got attached. I bought her last album but I have no idea where it is. I barely listened to it!

I know very well. She was super popular in Canada in the early 90s. When she came through again in the mid 90s, the new (real) image was a bit of a surprise to me!

Kind of into. I would like a greatest hits set from her. I own three of discs "Jagged", "Under"...and whatever the last one was called. It didn't haleave much of an impression on me and while they aren't bad, I think collecting her singles might be the way to go. I'm interested in buying it.
