I would like to hear david bowie studio outtakes and bootlegs... is there much out there?
and who's responsible for that awsome cat people melody? Moroder or Bowie? The slow one, not on the bowie album. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

If you were to compare the two in the height of their dragaliciousness, it would be a tight ass contest. If you were to compare their works post drag in their later years, I'd say Prince had better output. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

i dunno...bowie came back kinda strong in the mid-to-late nineties. compare stuff like "earthling" and "heathen" to "newpower soul" and "one nite alone".

Yes. But he's a better live singer. I'm all for some neat choreography to pre-recorded music, so that "talent" of Bowie don't appeal much to me.

depends on the day. and whether or not Prince has said or done anything in recent memory to make me despise him "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

But Prince never shagged Jagger... yeah, right. he didn't get to be their opening act due to popularity "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

Anxiety said: oh - and i think prince puts on a far better live show than bowie, and i can say this from experience. of all the times i saw the musicology tour last year, every show felt completely fresh to me, and there was always SOMETHING that was different from show to show. bowie might have a large repertoire of songs ready for a tour, but the arrangements rarely seem to allow for improvisation the way prince's do. if you've seen one show on a bowie tour, you pretty much know what to expect for the rest of the shows. if it weren't for the fact that it's DAVID FREAKIN' BOWIE!!! and that he has that amazing gorgeous voice that just fills your body, it could get really boring to see a bunch of bowie shows on the same tour.
oddly, i feel exactly the opposite. last year, when i saw bowie, it was the 3rd time in a year and a half. and it was the most standard of the shows i saw (as compared to Area 2 and the Poughkeepsie pre-Reality club show), and i thought it blew Prince away. the Musicology show (which i only saw once, admittedly) was very ho-hum to me. he lost me somewhere around U Got The Look or Life O' The Party and didn't get me back until Purple Rain. it just seemed like a less-ADD version of his late 90's hits medley shows. and yeah, it was a good show. it was just kind of dull. Bowie managed to move me a couple times, wheras Prince was fairly disappointing. "I don't need your forgiveness, cos I've been saved by Jesus, so fuck you."

Who's the best... I'm not talkin about who's the most talented, but who's the best "artist" ??? You can't compare them. So don't. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

i like Prince for his energy. his music and performance always get me up. i have been a long time fan and he basically got me through puberty.
Bowie takes me to darker emotional places that i feel i need to visit. now that i am an adult i am ready for it. it's really hard to compare them. Although when i heard DIAMOND DOGS for the first time, i felt it was so much like THE RAINBOW CHILDREN. yes SIR!

blackguitaristz said: Bowie GREATLY influenced Prince. There's no doubt about that. As a musician, there is no comparison. But, Bowie paved the way for Prince, as a performer and as a songwriter. If Bowie never existed, I truly don't believe we would have seen the same Prince that we ended up seeing. Bowie and Prince, both have been huge influences on me as an artist. But, I have ALWAYS known who was the innovator between those two. Anyone who has ever seen the Controversy and 1999 tours and also have seen Bowie's Diamond Dogs tour from 74-75, will see how much of an impact Bowie had on Prince, visually, as well.
Good point But one of Prince's prime Bowie influences was the Let's Dance Serious Moonlight Tour....it influenced The Parade tour greatly. As well as being influenced by James Brown....the yellow suits, stage work, and short hair and general musical vibe echoed the 1983 tour. Luminous beings are we...not this crude matter.
Is this 2morrow or just the END of time? The Funk will always b with u "I've got a face, not just my race, Bang Bang I've got you babe!"

EH????!!!!!????? i mean: i heard THE RAINBOW CHILDREN a long time before i heard DIAMOND DOGS. there are a lot of similarities. the beginning of FUTURE LEGEND reminds me of the intro of THE RAINBOW CHILDREN. both albums have some sort of story (Bowie is following Orwell's 1984, and Prince has his own one). Bowie ends with "bro...bro...bro...bro...bro" and Prince with "one...one...one...one...one...one" yes SIR!
