David Bowie has plenty of silly or crass or tongue-in-cheek or over the top songs to his name.
I mean yeah, he's not cranking out any Cracked Actors or Boys Keep Swingings these days, but Prince isn't exactly in fuckthetasteoutofyourmouth mode either, is he? And when I think of Prince, I don't exactly think of "keeping it real".

It seems like there are enough folks with those 2 as favorite artists, that it'd probably have a market as an actual publication.

Bowie is a great artist and has always made decent music, but I'm only a casual fan of his, so I will have to say Prince is better only because I'm more attracted to his music.

you're correct. he towers above prince, overshadowing prince in every way. bowie is THE original, of which prince is a watered down, funked up copy

Bowie, by a long shot. Although Prince is my second favorite, he has a far greater collection of shit songs than Bowie. "Never Let Me Down" was awful, and let's not discuss Tin Machine longer than we have to (not even going to mention 'hours...'), but Bowie doesn't have enough SUCK even in him to get as atrociously bad as 3 Chains O' Gold (the movie), most of the Symbol era music, the Kirky J. days, and so on and so on. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I want an mp3 of that Lost Highway song.... can the two bookends be joined?
Bowie has the better hair as always, and the more fashionable clothes, but that's why i like Prince, he's usually tasteless in perspective with his surroundings. that's worth investigation to figure out where he's coming from. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

I would agree. Although I must say I find Bowie's music strangely devoid of emotion.

No comparison----PRINCE!

Bowie GREATLY influenced Prince. There's no doubt about that. As a musician, there is no comparison. But, Bowie paved the way for Prince, as a performer and as a songwriter. If Bowie never existed, I truly don't believe we would have seen the same Prince that we ended up seeing. Bowie and Prince, both have been huge influences on me as an artist. But, I have ALWAYS known who was the innovator between those two. Anyone who has ever seen the Controversy and 1999 tours and also have seen Bowie's Diamond Dogs tour from 74-75, will see how much of an impact Bowie had on Prince, visually, as well. Absolutely 3 of his best. Throw Sweet Thing, Slip Away and Teenage Wildlife into the mix as well. Hell, there are tons.
