I am happy! And I'm still working on hooking you up. I know that sounds like a lame promise at this point, but I promise it's true! Oh and I just got the DVD too. Can't wait to dig in.

aw, Kool!!! when did the Mizell brothers release an album??? I wasn't aware Is it mostly Donald Byrd stuff? ... It's just a compilation of stuff they produced. I have all those Donald Byrd albums, but cmon, how can ya NOT buy a Mizell Brothers CD? There are a couple previously unreleased tracks though: "Funked Up" by Gary Bartz featuring vocals from Syreeta (from the Music Is My Sanctuary sessions). "N R Time" which is from Bobbi Humphrey's Satin Doll sessions, but Bobbi Humphrey did not appear on their instrumental. There's also a 2005 remix by Fonce and Larry of "Think Twice" by Donald Byrd, but they kinda messed with the vocal to sound thin like a telephone, which turned me off, but at the same time, it's cool to hear how they reworked something. here's the track list: 1 Wind Parade Donald Byrd 6:09 2 Reason to Survive Rance Allen 5:57 album: Reason To Survive (1976) 3 Change (Makes You Wanna Hustle) Donald Byrd 5:08 4 Uno Esta Bobbi Humphrey 6:42 5 Design a Nation Donald Byrd 4:19 6 Lansanna's Priestess Donald Byrd 7:43 7 (Fallin' Like) Dominoes Donald Byrd 4:32 8 Blacks and Blues Bobbi Humphrey 4:37 9 Funked Up Gary Bartz 6:16 10 N R Time Mizellstory 7:07 11 Think Twice (Mizell Brothers' 2005 Remix) Donald Byrd 7:39 here's a review I just found on okayplayer.

No argument. i LOVED the cremaster cycle, though i will admit it took a lot of patience to sit through parts of cremaster 2 and 3...you have to put your mind in a certain place to enjoy his films. you can't go in thinking that you're going to see movies, and you have to get in the mindset that you're watching art that just happens to be on film. it's filmed sculpture. it's filmed design. it's the use of colors and shapes and textures. and digested in the proper way, what he does is absolutely brilliant. It's also full of ideas: mythical deconstructions, odd social entanglements, gender twists, sexual quandaries, outrageous symbolism, extravagant spectacle, oblique commentaries. Issues such as disfigurement, physical handicap, animal-people, surreal sexual fixation, secluded crowds, misplaced cultural references... An all-around theoretical feast! The only one that tired me was the opera one. Other than that I wasn't bored at all and I sat through the whole cycle. But that's just me...

When was it showing? All I'm hoping is that Barney to Bjork isn't the creative equivalent of Guy to Madonna - spousal-induced career backlash. I'm hoping their joint ventures don't become Swept Away.

Wish I could've seen it. I don't know many who liked it. But you might. A few weeks ago, I saw a Barney full-room installation at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis replete with disco saddle and glacier photos.

True. But I'd appreciate it if she started writing songs again. As much as I love Medulla, I hope it's not a sign that she's completely lost her shit. That I could take. Most of this soundtrack, I cannot.

I'm hoping their joint ventures don't become Swept Away. it was showing in chicago in the summer of 2003 - earlier that year i was fortunate enough to catch the matthew barney exhibit in NYC at the guggenheim, when they transformed the entire museum into the cremaster haunted house , with all the sculpture and costumes and photos and sketches from the movie filling up the place, and a huge five screen monitor hanging from the ceiling showing all five films at the same time on a loop. it was a little amazing.

I just want a proper Bjork album with proper remixes and proper b-sides, all of them excellent. The last time we had all 3 was 1997-1999 with Homogenic. Vespertine had crap remixes (mostly on purpose) and Medulla had no b-sides.
