Makes sense, because EW&F has no shortage of percussionists and drummers, lol. He's a nice guy.He once saw something I wrote on an EW&F message board, and then emailed me to anwer my question lol

Why do they use so much electronic percussion?

Yeah Ralph is cool. I've talked him a few times. It's all in fun. I know he goes back to the prime years.

You're almost contradicting yourself here; "not as diverse", but "more experimentation". HUH? This had was their longset instrumental since "Zanzibar" and it's pretty tight. Plus the interludes were pretty amazing.
The bum tracks on there were "Song in My Heart" "You Went Away" "Win or Lose". They "sound like anuthing. They went flat, but the rest of it, put it way past I AM .

Experimentation means more diverse sounds lol

The album should have covered alot more ground. In other words,it should have been their 'SITKOL'.Since it is a 2-record set, they had alot of room to really do some exciting things. But most of the songs are predictable, and many of the uptempo tracks sound alike.

The interludes were pretty amazing? I think there's only one interlude, between "Turn It Into Something Good" and "Pride".Where are the other ones at? confuse

Why experiment if you're not being diverse? eek
You don't need to experiment if you're doing the same ol' stuff, do you?
Mind now, those are your words, so go giggle at your own oxymoron.

I think a lot of FACES was canned and fleshed out as Al was already gone by the time I AM was "on the streets".

Let me dig the disc out and dbl-check the interludes, I may have mixed some things up.

Let's Groove, Evolution Orange, I Wanna Be With You, I've Had Enough.....

Yeah, I'd say that's classic material right there

'Raise' is a damn good album. They often get criticized for "selling out" in the 80s,but that is not a valid criticism because 'Raise' is funky as hell. There is very little pop on this album.

"Let's Groove is more than enuff disco-pop barf for me, but
"Changing Times" more than makes up for it. horns I'm very pissed at that album for giving a bad tease of "Evolution Orange". That could've been stretched!

btw,I think one of the biggest mistakes that EW&F made in recent years was letting Sheldon Reynolds go.Not only is a great guitarist, but he's also a wonderful vocalist. In concert,he was singing many of Maurice's parts, and did a great job too.You can also hear him alot on 'Avatar'.He was an essential member.

Gotta disagree with ya on that David. I liked Sheldon's playing but his singing grated my damn nerves. lol
