Until about a year ago, I thought Maxwell created this song. Nevertheless, I stop cold in my tracks whenever I hear Maxwell's version and am always pushed to the verge of tears. especially toward the end when these lines are repeated: All the things I should've said that I never said/ All the things we should've done, That we never did. His voice and the fact this he's an actual male electrifies this song for me. I've read of course that Tori created this from a male perspective but I've never heard whether she appreciated Maxwell's version. For those who've heard both ... am I really missing out not hearing Tori's. If I think Maxwell's is transcendent and ethereal ... will I pass out hearing hers? uh-oh.....Tori vs Kate round 30. damn.....does Tori really sound that much like Kate? SynthiaRose believed it was a Tori Amos song. As Mike has a Tori quote as his sig it all added to the confusion Snowball That's right. Tori has covered "Running Up That Hill" and Elton's "Rocket Man", but not "This Woman's Work". At least not yet anyway.

OMG - I obtained a copy of this song and listened to it after reading about it here on the org. This song makes me cry, big time! Think it's the lyrics, the melody, and the way Kate Bush sings it with so much emotion (pain) in her voice. I prefer Kate's version to Maxwell's (although Maxwell does a nice job singing this song as well). RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

There's a dance mix that combines Maxwell's and Kate's together. "as prince goes poom poom poom poom

Yes it is! The live version though (MTV Unplugged), Not the studio version . I completely agree! The studio version does it NO justice! "But what of black women? . . .
