Gangsta Fam

here are some of the cure discs i've burned recently for my car.

3IB (total time 78:36)

1. the cure - 1015 saturday night (3:48)
2. the cure - boys don't cry (2:47)
3. The Cure - Accuracy (2:17)
4. The Cure - Grinding Halt (2:49)
5. The Cure - plastic passion (2:16)
6. The Cure - Another Day (3:44)
7. The Cure - Object (3:03)
8. The Cure - Subway Song (2:00)
9. The Cure - Foxy Lady (2:29)
10. the cure - killing an arab (2:31)
11. The Cure - World War(2:38)
12. The Cure - Meathook (2:17)
13. The Cure - i'm cold (2:49)
14. The Cure - So What (2:39)
15. The Cure - Jumping Someone Else's Train (2:59)
16. the cure - fire in cairo (3:20)
17. The Cure - It's Not You (2:52)
18. The Cure - Three Imaginary Boys (3:32)
19. The Cure - The Weedy Burton (0:53)
20. The Cure - Faded Smiles Aka I Don't Know (2:16)
21. The Cure - I Just Need Myself (2:14)
22. The Cure - pillbox tales (original) (2:28)
23. The Cure - Heroin Face (2:36)
24. The Cure - I Want To Be Old (2:36)
25. The Cure - See The Children (3:10)
26. The Cure - Play With Me (3:30)
27. The Cure - Winter (3:46)
28. The Cure - The Cocktail Party (4:17)

a perfect overview of the easy cure/early cure days. Restored "Killing an Arab", "See the children" and "pillbox tales (1978 version), which should all have been on that bonus disc. It's lucky that their early material was all short songs, so I could fit a lot on. I would pay for this disc.

But that was pretty simple. Let's try another one:

The Top (and other inbetween songs... 1983-1984) total time (79:34)

1. The Cure - Shake Dog Shake (4:55)
2. The Cure - Birdmad Girl (4:05)
3. The Cure - Wailing Wall (5:13)
4. The Cure - Dressing Up (2:51)
5. The Cure - The Caterpillar (3:38)
6. The Cure - Piggy in the Mirror (3:40)
7. The Cure - The Empty World (2:33)
8. The Cure - Bananafishbones (3:08)
9. The Cure - The Top (6:49)
10. The Cure - la ment (flexi) (4:36)
11. The Cure - throw your foot (3:33)
12. The Cure - happy the man (2:47)
13. The Cure - the lovecats (12 inch) (4:36)
14. the cure - just one kiss (12 inch) (7:09)
15. The Cure - mr pink eyes (2:45)
16. The Cure - speak my language (2:43)
17. The Cure - the dream (3:12)
18. The Cure - the upstairs room (3:31)
19. The Cure - The Walk (3:30)
20. The Cure - la ment (4:25)

you'll notice that "give me it" is not included. I really hate it, it's probably the worst song the cure has ever done (and that's saying a lot, considering "club america", "the promise" and "screw" to name a few. "screw" is actually not that bad.) I hate wasting space on cd-rs, so here's "the top minus one" plus everything else that came out between it and "pornography". A fun listen. what do you think?

another....

HEAD ON THE DOOR (total time 69:43)

1. the cure - inbetween days (12 inch) (4:00)
2. The Cure - the exploding boy (2:54)
3. The Cure - Kyoto Song (4:16)
4. The Cure - The Blood (3:43)
5. The Cure - a few hours after this... (2:28)
6. The Cure - Six Different Ways (3:18)
7. The Cure - Push (4:33)
8. The Cure - pillbox tales (2:56)
9. The Cure - The Baby Screams (3:44)
10. The Cure - stop dead (4:02)
11. the cure - close to me (original 12 inch mix) (6:32)
12. The Cure - a man inside my mouth (3:07)
13. The Cure - A Night Like This (4:15)
14. The Cure - do the hansa (2:40)
15. The Cure - Screw (2:38)
16. The Cure - new day (4:10)
17. The Cure - Sinking (4:53)
18. the cure - boys don't cry (new club mix) (5:34)

THIS is would DEFINATELY pay for. The definitive '85-'86 collection?

how about:

Wild Mood Swings (total time 77:37)

1. The Cure - Want (5:06)
2. the cure - a pink dream (3:46)
3. The Cure - This Is A Lie (4:29)
4. the cure - waiting (3:33)
5. The Cure - Strange Attraction (4:19)
6. The Cure - Mint Car (3:32)
7. The Cure - Jupiter Crash (4:15)
8. The Cure - adonais (4:11)
9. The Cure - Round & Round & Round (2:38)
10. The Cure - Gone! (4:31)
11. The Cure - Numb (4:49)
12. The Cure - Return (3:28)
13. the cure - Home (3:23)
14. The Cure - Trap (3:37)
15. The Cure - Treasure (3:45)
16. The Cure - ocean (3:29)
17. The Cure - Bare (7:56)
18. The Cure - it used to be me (6:50)

ah. This album needed the most tweeking. I hate a lot of it, so a lot of it is gone. If WMS had been released like this, it would have been a lot better, i think. But even in it's released version, it's still better than Self Titled....

"The Cure" (total time barely fucking fitting @ 79:57)

1. the cure - Lost (4:06)
2. the cure - Labyrinth (5:13)
3. the cure - Before Three (4:37)
4. the cure - Truth Goodness and Beauty (4:19)
5. the cure - The End Of The World (3:43)
6. the cure - Anniversary (4:19)
7. the cure - Us Or Them (4:08)
8. the cure - Fake (4:34)
9. the cure - alt.end (4:29)
10. the cure - (i don't know whats going) On (2:55)
11. the cure - Taking Off (3:17)
12. the cure - Never (4:02)
13. the cure - The Promise (10:16)
14. the cure - Going Nowhere (3:30)
15. the cure - This Morning (7:12)
16. the cure - why can't i be me (4:15)
17. the cure - your god is fear (5:04)

Your Thoughts? I find it interesting that ALL of the overseas bonus tracks, plus the Vinyl LP only track, plus all the b-sides, all fit on one disc.

Wow! You put a LOT of work into this. And this is exactly the kind of thing I try to do when I'm burning my albums discs - incorporate everything that fits in a way that makes sense. It's gonna take me a bit to absorb everything you've got here, but I'll tackle each album one by one. This really has me motivated to finish off my own Cure projects. Thanks for posting. biggrin

You would have loved my room. It was like a cabinet of curiosa. Mirrors, candles to light you. Even a guitar. When I was still trying.

I am currently making voice recordings. I mean, I can't sing, but at least I can play people what I have in mind.

It is the first step to actual recodings with a band or multi-instrumentalist...

We're going way off topic here, and I promise smokeverbs that I'll get it together for your lovingly put together thread very soon.

That said, you don't have to be able to really sing to sing, ya know? Think of all the great singers who can't sing - Ian Curtis for one.

damn! I should have logged on this morning!

tackling the above comments one by one ....

Hamster, you'd like to "do it with me"? hahaha, my wife walked in as I was reading that!

Yea, I play drums and synth -- my guitarist skipped town on me and I've never had a bassist (hey since you offered to "do it" with me, do you play bass? I've never "had" a bassist! ... sorry too much coffee, nevermind!)

Feel free to steal my disc ideas, but I couldn't improve the self titled album. God I can't wait for the new album, they got porl back, ya know.

The biggest problem is from 1987 on, their albums got longer and longer -- so I'll be posting some "2 disc special editions" of my own soon ...

Coffee and the cure, maybe some good herb -- sounds like many a night here with me and my friends, come join us one night.

ah fuck, looking at the discs I posted, reminded me that I left something off of 3IB: The demo of Plastic Passion, the one that sounds just like A Night Like This. WHy didn't they include that on their own Disc Two??? I remastered it with Adobe Audition, it sounds ok but still very bootleg-ish. Noise reduction can only do so much... damn. When I get another pack of blanks I'll have to redo 3IB.

oh, and how the hell do I change my sig? I haven't done that radio show in about 6 months! I can't remember how to change it....

ok this site's bugs are really starting to piss me off. I have to rewrite my entire post (with tracklistings for four more albums) because when I hit "post response" it took me to a log-in page (even though I was already logged in) and then when I logged in again, it said invalid function -- and then hitting the back button did not take me back to what i'd typed. GRR. I don't feel like doing it now. neutral

Long posts will do that for you!

Tip; COPY the entire text before you hit POST.

I have learned the hard way as well. Often, when I write a long post, I will first write it in Word.
