Old School Rap of the Day: "Self-Destruction" by Stop the Violence Movement Does anybody remember this rap tune from the '80's? It was recorded by a bunch of rap artists, including Doug E. Fresh, Stetasonic, Kool Moe Dee, McLyte, Just-Ice, Heavy D and Public Enemy. this song, brings back great memories for me! RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

No. No. No. For real though, I have such warm and fuzzy memories of this song. I was about 12 years old, music kicked ass and there was a positive movement growing in this thing called hip-hop, something that belonged to my generation and us alone. Specifically, it reminds me of a sleepover party at my best friend Tasha's house, where we played this over and over, rewinding the tape so we could all memorize the lyrics. Girls and boys singing each part, eating lemon cake and drinking Kool Aid, dancing our hormonal prepubescent asses off. Sigh... The Normal Whores Club

Don't you love songs that bring you back to a specific moment like this, where you can recall every little detail? I know I do. That's great! I hope you were drinkin' that Kool-Aid out of one of these...

I'm from the Wezzeezy and I think Self Destruction was better than Same Gang, mainly because those fools, sans Hammer, went back to rappin' about bangin' the very next day! LOL!
