Marilyn Manson or Nine Inch Nails? Let me just say that im a HUGE fan of both acts based on the fact that their songs were the soundtrack to my high school years.
With that said, NIN has alot more going musically. Sonically, Trent is very innovative sonically. The Downward Spiral was/is a genuine 90s classic. As for Manson, I like his stuff, but I can admit that lately he's been this cultural boogeyman who's famous for being famous rather than for the music. This is the main difference between Manson and Trent. That's not to say he hasnt made anything influential. Mechanical Animals was one of my favorite albums in high school and Im confident that years from now both that and Antichrist Superstar will be praised on high levels. Basically put: Manson is the ultimate rock star, while Trent is the ultimate musician of the times what do u all think?

i think manson had a schtick that could only go so far. meanwhile, i think reznor has the capability of long-time appeal if he learns how to let his music grow and expand. 'with teeth' was a disappointment to me, but there were hints of something deep in some of the songs in 'the fragile'. i'd love to see reznor do more soundtrack work - i love the ones he's put together so far.

Manson's music is derivative and his act gets boring quickly.
Reznor has a lot of depth, and his melodies are far more original and complex. He'll be able to reinvent himself and stay fresh. He's talented enough to do it. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Manson only has his act and the only thing influencial and decent he released was made by Trent in the studio, says enough don't you think...

Ok, I guess i'll be the first one to say manson. I love his musicand he puts on a great live show. I consider him almost a performance artist. Yes, he could probably chill out on the whole shock value you thing but overall I think he's more talented and interesting the Reznor.

Love em both. I guess I'd day Trent has the most talent/potential of the two though. As much as I enjoy Marylin Manson, he's really hitting the point where he's too old to be doing some of the stuff he's been doing all these years.

NIN are better in terms of inventiveness, but I own all manson's albums and play them, and only two NIN (and they are his poppier ones Pretty Hate Machine and With Teeth) and rarely play them.

I like Manson, but I vote for NIN. Don't forget Trent is the one that discovered Manson, and produces his material. |
