Apparantly these are the official lyrics:
Could you see the aisles of women? Could you see them screaming and weeping? Could you see the storm rising? Could you see the guy who was driving? Could you climb higher and higher? Could you climb right over the top? Why does a multi-millionaire Fill up his home with priceless junk? The wind is whistling The wind is whistling Through the house Elvis are you out there somewhere Looking like a happy man? In the snow with Rosebud And king of the mountain Another Hollywood waitress Is telling us she´s having your baby And there´s a rumour that you´re on ice And you will rise again someday And that there´s a photograph Where you´re dancing on your grave The wind is whistling The wind is whistling Through the house Elvis are you out there somewhere Looking like a happy man? In the snow with Rosebud And king of the mountain The wind it blows The wind it blows the door closed

its not bad. her voice--assuming it is not "fixed" in the studio--sounds amazing. like she hasn't aged a day since hounds of love. speaking of which, the new song would fit very well on that record which gives me hope that this new cd will be an instant classic.
in the end, though, i can't say the song was SO good that i understand what took her this long to release something. i mean, look, its no tori amos-caliber song.

I dig Tori but up until this point havent taken much notice of Kate .. just cos of the 12 years thing ...
but out of curiosity Ive just burned me this new Kate song and it's SHIT MY PANTS awesome!! I gotta have me the single and album as soon as I can get my hands on them. If this is typical Kate Bush then Im buzzing!! Finally someone *new* (to me) to sink my ears into. For me. .... the most exciting first minute of a song Ive heard ALL YEAR! I like me some bush. (not the George kind)

You're right. It isn't : Cool, 'cos we wouldn't want Kate doing a pale imitation of herself.

Well? What can I say?
Oh. My. Effing. GOD!!!!! I don't know where to start. I LOVE 'King Of The Mountain'!!! It's almost worth the 12 year wait. Absolutely stunning. Cloudbuster & Jon Snow's descriptions were very accurate. It sort of reminds me of 'The Sensual World' meets Massive Attack's 'Teardrop'. I felt like I was gliding through air, past icebergs when I was listening to it (if that doesn't sound completely crazy). It is so atmospheric and glacial. Only the other day I was watching one of her videos - I can't remember which one - and I was thinking how much I love the synth backdrops and hoped she'd re-introduce them. She's only gone and done it with a 2005 twist! I'm quite surprised by her vocal register - she sounds a little deeper than usual - but I'm very pleased with the results. And the bass/wind noises after the second 'The Wind Is Whistling' section I could go on and on and on. She is BACK! I must have listened to the song about 5 or 6 times last night - I definitely agree that it's a grower - and even by the last listen, I had tears brimming in my eyes. So beautiful. Even this morning - I had to get a listen in before I went to work - I had goosepimples. I guess you can tell I like it. Anyway, apologies if I've gone on a bit but I hope everyone's enjoying it as much as me. I'm very excited for the new album.
