Maneater & Modern Love

"Maneater" by Hall & Oates and "Modern Love" by David Bowie were on the radio at the same time, and have some similarities in their musical devices...

any other completely different songs by artists seem similar?

The opening keyboard chord of "Too Much Rain" on McCartney's new album sounds like the first keyboard chord on Lennon's "Jealous Guy"

I quite like both those songs, although I prefer "Modern Love". Sure, its not Bowie's best period, but the cut is decent.

I always catch myself drifting into "Maneater" when I hear Stevies's "Parttime Lover"
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Yeah, Ray Parker Jr. was sued by H.L. & The News for stealing part of "I Want a New Drug". I think they won.

Ray was known for grabbin' other peoples sounds....

George Clinton should've sued him for 'For Those Who Like To Groove'...

Sounds just like 'One Nation Under A Groove'

In the mid-80s,there were alot of New Wave-styled songs that sounded similiar...

"Part-Time Lover" by Stevie Wonder
"Maneater" by Hall and Oates
"Modern Love" by David Bowie
"Million Dollar Babe" by Stacy Lattisaw

the beats and song structure are similiar.

Yes, Lewis sued Parker and won. You can sing "I Want A New Drug" to "Ghostbusters". The melodies are identical.

there are SEVERAL songs I think sound similar- most of them escape me at the moment but I do remember thinking that

"something about you" (I think that was the title) by 'Ebonee Web' sounds A LOT like Prince's classic "Head"..

that (somehow) O'Bryan's "I'm freaky" reminded me a lot of Prince's "soft & wet" (the synths??)
& O'Bryan's "I'm freaky" influenced "body talk" by The Deele

a song by Everything But The Girl - in fact, the song that got me into them - called "apron strings" has almost the same melody as the Beatles' "day in the life" (I think that's the title)..

per songs already mentioned, I do hear a similarity between Huey L & the News "wanna new drug" & Parker Jr's "ghostbusters"

"maneater" & "part-time lover" have what I call the "Supreme's 'I hear a symphony' beat".. but of course the Supremes had more than 1 song that had that same rhythm/beat..

interesting thread..
I'll see you tonight..

and Janet's "Funny How Time Flies" borrows its melody from Mike's own "The Lady In My Life" lol
