Ice-T to produce David Hasselhoff's first Rap Album http://www.ananova.com/en....html?menu Ice-T is to produce David Hasselhoff's first hip-hop album. The pair are neighbours in Los Angeles and are said to have struck up a close friendship. Hasselhoff has had some success as a singer, releasing seven albums. He's also said to be very popular in Germany. Ice-T, who was one of the first real hip-hop stars in the late 1980s, said: "The man is a legend. And we are going to show a whole new side of him." The rapper is said to be convinced that the 51-year-old for Knight Rider and Baywatch actor can take on the biggest names in rap, reports The Sun. Ice-T added: "He's gonna come out as Hassle The Hoff - I promise you. The Hoff will surprise people with his rap skills and humour."

Things like this helped contribute to the death of disco. I've been waiting for something like this to happen to hip hop. Now someone needs to produce a rap record for Barbara Streisand and Bette Midler. Is Carol Channing still living? She needs to do one too. Andy is a four letter word.

This is kind of old news, I´ve heard about this two years ago and even checked out some Ice-T sites but Ice seems to be busy doing other things, mostly pimp related.
I used to be an Ice-T fan when I was 17/18, back in the days when Rhyme Pays came out.Still the best Ice-T album, IMO. I even had those rare 12"s with Ya Don´t Quit and DogNthe Wax and even the first Ice-T record ever, The Coldest Rap, which came out in 1982 and was produced by....guess who.....Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis !! By the way, why is "humour" spelled with "ou" even though the article is not from a British website ? Just curious . " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

That's right. I got alot of those old tracks on a 1993 Rhino Records compilation called... ...The Classic Collection. Ice-T's major label debut LP Rhyme Pays came out in 1987, so this is stuff he did for indie labels 1983-1986. Check it out: The Coldest Rap 6:41 (© 1983 Saturn Records) Killers 5:08 (© 1984 Electrobeat Records) Ya Don't Quit 4:24 (© 1985 Big Beat Productions) 6 in the Mornin' 3:43 (© 1986 Big Beat Productions) Body Rock 5:36 (© 1984 Electrobeat Records) Cold Wind-Madness (aka The Coldest Rap, Pt. 2) 5:48 (© 1983 Saturn Records) Dog'n the Wax 5:15 (© 1986 Big Beat Productions) Iceapella 4:17 (© 1986 Big Beat Productions) I prefer the original shorter version of "6 N The Mornin" - the drums hit so much harder!

Yes, I´m familiar with that compilation. I used to have all those tracks as originals whenm they came out.I even had and still have those movies on VHS where Ice performed Killers ( a flick called Rappin´feat. Mario Van Peebles) and of course the two infamous Breakin´ movies.
There are also some other compilations out there. I loved the instrumentals of those jams, like DogNtheWax and 6 In the Morning ( which sounded a bit rawer than the album verson). Ice-T was really cool in his heyday and a very intelligent, streetwise and articulate man plus a very colorful and interesting, outspoken, mysterious cat with a dubiuos past. Do you know if that very old LA documentary with Ice-T is still available ? I think the European title is Breakdance Gangs ? I also used to have that Wreckin Cru´ album where them and Dre were copying the Purple look of Prince. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

So who's the bigger moron? Ice T for thinking he can get a decent rap out of Hasselhoff OR Hasselhoff for entering a no-win genre aided by a dude that hasn't made decent music in over a decade???

So it's going to be a goof? That's a little bit sad. Those things never work out. Has Ice-T recorded anything recently? He's great on "Law and Order: SVU". I've heard this a while back and thought it was a rumour. It's really kind of pitiful. BTW my favorite thing is the fact that the title of the article has says "first Rap album". First? So more are coming?
